What's your opinion about the game's story?

To be honest I was disappointed because the WoD were weakened in their fight with us. They went from the WoD being able to fell cleave straight through Ravana's parry to being unable to defeat a single WoL and his/her cronies. While I am happy we won, I'm not happy the victory was final; they should have remained fast rivals for us, the Yin to our Yang and whatnot. The next time we'd see them we'd lose, the time after that we'd win, or we'd team up to take on Omega Weapon and have a two-party Trial with the second party being standins for the WoD.

Damn that Omega fight would have been awesome.

This was also something that I wrote in the 3.4 threads or the ones about the WoD. Why were they done so fast? Why couldnt they have stayed longer and be our rival, or maybe at the end even friends? They could have used them as characters that knew about the burdens of being the world savior. We could have learned something from their echo vision or from themselves..but no lets send them away and end their story line (for now) even though they were only introduced in 3.1 and barely got any screentime..

And to be more on topic: This is one part that I dislike about the FF14 story..there are quite some interesting story quests that they rushed through like the WoD, the U'ldah one..which is probably because they have so many different story lines going on..Telling us about the war with Ishard and at the same time dealing with the Ascians, U'ldah and many more only set up for rushed storylinies or the feel that this has no place in the situation right now..maybe for the future less different story lines but the ones we have much more deeper and longer..

Typical Final Fantasy stuff: you're special, save the world, blah blah. Seen it a million times before.

On the other hand I was pleasantly surprised by the Soul Surrender questline. Didn't expect it, and it came with some great writing and voice acting.
