The problem with a focus on high damage is that a lot of players are going to want to have a SAM in their group due to the heavy focus on DPS in the game, much to the detriment of the other tanks. Having it rival dps damage potential is even worse, because then you'll have 3(light party)/5(full party) DPS, one of which can actually survive.

It's like WAR but worse.

I mean in all honesty the next healer/tank will probably be made to compete with WAR/SCH

i agree with the dps thing, but seriously design a new tank that could compete with war as ot, reliably be able to mt and offer something that isnt high dps that would make it a consideration. pretty hard to do if you ask me.
even then it seems like the only way to really deter a war/sam comp at that point is to only offer it the same utility war offers non-stackable, and even then...
perhaps theyll juggle around abilities on all the tanks and make it closer, but that could turn out super bland
