What do you mean about Ninja, the poisons are dot effects, the Spell Fencer didn't rely use dots if I remember correctly. Anyhow, it may be a preference thing so who knows but the idea was that alternatives exist, the creativity is there.
Except the poisons aren't at all DoTs lol, you should pick the class up and try it. Kiss of the Wasp and Kiss of the Viper are both passive DPS increases of 20% with Viper turning some abilities into silence and Wasp turning some abilities into stuns. The only DoTs they have are Shadow Fang and Mutilate, both bleeding effects and not poisons.
