I know we usually don't take on the jobs of villains but if we get sam with that revolver sheath I will lose my shit.

Any job idea can be made interesting if the devs want it to be. It all depends on the execution. Samurai actually has a good chance for comming now. Yoshie-P wanted to use it for HW but decided against putting in another japanese inspired job so close after ninja. But two years have passed, so the time is right.
FF series has so many others to pick from but in their MMOs its always the same classes
I mean... there's only been two MMOs. I'm not sure how you could have a hard-set precedent, especially since there's a fair deal of classes that aren't in FFXIV yet (and have problems with getting in due to mechanics - see: Blue Mage).
Besides, there's already two job classes in the game that aren't exactly recurring: Machinist (which, granted, is related to gunner, but they haven't exactly had a lot of appearances, either) and Astrologian - which has appeared an entire once before, in a singular story battle in Final Fantasy Tactics.
Well for starters Ninja could have been a "Spell Fencer" from Bravely Default, a dual wielding class that imbues elemental magic into their weapons.

Spell Fencers didn't dual-wield.Well for starters Ninja could have been a "Spell Fencer" from Bravely Default, a dual wielding class that imbues elemental magic into their weapons.

I mean. They could dual-wield. Because every job class could. They weren't famous for it, though - that would still be Ninja, who actually had Dual Wield with no drawbacks (normally it halved your P.Atk).
At this point, all you have left is sword magic, which...was in Final Fantasy XI as the Rune Knight. Among other games, of course.
