How PL'ing killed FFXIV.

The worse the game gets... for jerks. It's not a demographic I think we should accommodate. Even sports have rules against "unsportsmanlike" conduct. Any healthy competition does.

It's something where trying to stop or defeat it is futile. You might be able to reduce the impact, but jerks will be jerks and there's nothing you can do about it. In fact, accommodating jerks may even take some of the fun out of being a jerk.

I'm sure someone's said it already. But I'll say it again. Go and kill Ifrit 60+ times without getting the drop you want. Then come talk to me about lack of content. You, Mr. OP, have not completed ANY of the content SE has offered us even while they are busy rebuilding the game from the ground up. I hate to admit it, but SE did a damn good job making sure we'd have our hands full until the next patch. It's damn frustrating, but it gives you a reason to keep playing. So just find a good LS, make an effort to actually EXPERIENCE some of the content you're referencing, and cut out the hypocrisy. It just makes you look bad.

some this is there first MMO, and never had the chance to play with out being spoon feed XP now when you get in a party there mages who want you to heal your self, mrd's & gla's who dont want to tank and dont even have a ablity like warmonger/taunt/provoke set. the other problem is people in a 8 man party dont want to fight mobs around 5 levels higher than your party which happens to be optimal XP you can chain into 800's+ a party is just pure chaos, some partys are slower than soloing just because people are scared to try something out of there comfort zone and it not like we have a death penalty.

BUT there has been party where people played FFXI or other mmo's that required other than button mashing i played with we were slaughtering packs raptors and it was organized and no one had to tell anyone anything.

Power leveling pure MMO noobs or people who can think on the fly is bad but people still do it.

I party often and I haven't been running into any Pling partys anywhere on my server. I'm not saying it's not going on I just don't see it.

I believe that a player that has been Pled can be just as good as someone that didn't get Pled. It just boils down to if that player cares about his job and what people around that player are going to say about him during the party and after.
Word get around fast about who sucks and who doesn't suck in this game.

Remeber all the polls about who is staying and who is leaving? Well let's take a repoll now that the majority of the population has fast-tracked their way to every meaningful goal. You have a 50 in every class you wanted right? Just PL up to 40 and then Spiritbind Party to 50. 2-3 days tops. Lame.

So what do I tell my friends about FFXIV now?

"Well, I'm afraid it's turned into one of those games where you PL to the end and then complete the final dungeon and quit." They nod knowingly. We have all played that game before. You may be willing to play that game for free, but you certainly don't pay for it.

My hopes for the future are sputtering out yet again.

well for the HARDCORE players... casuals like me has no lv 50 char ^^ ok im not playing right now.. but leveling in FFXIV isnt that fast.. and you not need to "PL" your charas up to lv 50.


Powerleveling was there also in FFXI.
Levelgrind shouldnt replace real content.


and you seem to forget that lv 50 wont be the cap of the game... the real endgame will be implemented via addons or patches. what about lv 50-> 60 being much much harder?

well one member of my linkshell just told me that he leveled much faster in a grind pt than a Power level player could ever do.

and its up to you. you dont need to be powerleveled.. look at me i am a level 39 con ;D (ok im playing not right now)

If you are in a good party with people that know what they are doing you can get anywhere from 2k to 4k in 2min easy.
I 'm guessing you pulled the 6-9k from before the patch.

There is no way any grind PT is faster than PLing pre level 40.

After level 40 PT's is the best, but you can stand there doing nothing so you are technically still being PL'd

Show me a PT that can grind and gain 150-200k/hour.
