Sorry, but if you plan on using a raid or boss to learn your job, I don't want you in my group. It's ignorant to say you don't need to learn as you level. The jobs may not be all that complex, but proper use of what your job is capable of is.

You learn the fights. There is not much in the way of learning your class. Its pretty simple. Aggro bar red? Stop DPSing. Low MP? Stop casting and stand still. Tank is taking damage? Cast a heal, watch aggro meter still. Its pretty universal across all classes, the rest is as I said, learning the fight mechanics.
