Gaining exp even if dng is unsynched

Do your levequests, and hunting log while waiting on queue. Do FATEs. Run each guildhest once for each role for the bonus xp. Aim to finish challenge log objectives while on a job you're leveling. If you're dealing with the upper levels, make use of beastmen daily quests and the daily/weekly HW hunts. There is a LOT you can do to level up if dps queues are too long for you. And leveling SHOULD take a while, use that time to PRACTICE.

Also, 7+ years and this is the only one you've seen that takes a while to level? What, only played WoW and Guild Wars? Try older MMOs like FFXI or Everquest, or even most MUDS out there, then try telling me FFXIV's leveling is slow :P

Levequests? Who does those outside of 1-50 crafting if you're yet to unlock Ixali? The main class exp they give is terrible, you're much better just farming FATES, and even those are a slog.. For me anyway...

POTD is my BFF at this point for levelling classes I hate quickly, like tanking ones or any healer but WHM classes.

Actially, levequest, PotD and FATEs are all on par in terms of exp/hour. Levequests are a bit higher than FATEs (of course you should ignore escort ones) and FATEs are a bit (not tiny, but a bit) higher than PotD. You can confirm this if you just try farming each of them for 2 hours on different classes of the same level. Someone on reddit already did the math, actually.
