Gaining exp even if dng is unsynched

I've been playing MMO for 7+ years but ff xiv is the only game where levelling is extremely long and boring especially for dps classes who needs to wait 30+ minutes before entering a dungeon. With the new expansion coming in next summer this is not encouraging new players to play the game if, just for a single class, they have to wait about 1 month (or even more) for 1-70.

You run Palace of the Dead as a dps.

I really like that people are all for making the MSQ continue to be mandatory then say stuff like, "don't actually run the MSQ dungeons to level, level with some side content instead".

I feel like something at this point has got to give. As we get more and more expansions added, there's going to be more and more "mandatory" content that the devs have to constantly figure out how to remain relevant, so that new players aren't stuck at 15 waiting for a queue that never pops. Whether it's a release of the mandatory MSQ restrictions for expansion content, or functioning NPCs that you can bring into dungeons with you like SWTOR...new player growth will stagnate pretty seriously once the game reaches a certain point where a new player starts as a DPS and has to wait forever to continue their questing.

It might not be a problem now, but as we layer on more and more expacs it really will start to be one.

That's because people realize there is a difference between "run dungeon X once to continue the story" and "run this dungeon 20 times to level up"
Personally, I like leveling in dungeons, so I don't mind the DPS queue times. But it's not like anyone can get stuck that way - since there are a myriad of other ways to level up:
from the massive exp gain from the MSQ quests to PotD to FATEs to hundreds upon hundreds of sidequests, beasttribes, the weekly agenda and so on.
Continuing the MSQ does not mean one must only solely level through the MSQ, and it was never meant to be that way in the first place, even at ARR release, so I don't see where your complaint is coming from.

I really like that people push their agendas into other threads. This is not relevant to the OPs suggestion, and has nothing to do with farming dungeons for levelling. The reason that MSQ dungeons exist is to enhance the story and to break up the cutscenes. If the entire story was given to us through cutscenes it would be an extremely bland way to play the game, by having MSQ dungeons, we actually get to interact with the story and be a part of the adventure.

My point is more that if the dungeon queues are super long in general, it'll mean people get roadblocked by them while actually trying to continue the story is all. I'm not really against having story-relevant dungeons, but I am against having the quests for them be mandatory to continue the MSQ line, because it just means people are stuck without a way to advance before that queue pops.

You're right though, I suppose the OP is talking more about farming dungeons for exp, which while common in other games isn't really as accepted here.

One month is extremely easy from my POV. I joined 1 month after heavensward came out. I never really felt behind.

new players have to play through the whole mainscenario anyway before they can enter the lvl 70 content, wich will boost them to max lvl because of all the quest exp (that this will take forever and not encouraging new players is another story).

for secondary classes there is already a big exp boost in place, wich will maybe increase even further with 4.0. plus there is the exp boost ring from hall of the novice for 1-30 and the headpiece from the friend recruit camapgne.

Do your levequests, and hunting log while waiting on queue. Do FATEs. Run each guildhest once for each role for the bonus xp. Aim to finish challenge log objectives while on a job you're leveling. If you're dealing with the upper levels, make use of beastmen daily quests and the daily/weekly HW hunts. There is a LOT you can do to level up if dps queues are too long for you. And leveling SHOULD take a while, use that time to PRACTICE.

Also, 7+ years and this is the only one you've seen that takes a while to level? What, only played WoW and Guild Wars? Try older MMOs like FFXI or Everquest, or even most MUDS out there, then try telling me FFXIV's leveling is slow :P

POTD is my BFF at this point for levelling classes I hate quickly, like tanking ones or any healer but WHM classes.
