Hi!
The purpose of this topic is to help people build a PC as cheap as possible to play FFXIV at 1080p and 60fps. (In doubt, one could go for better/pricier components, but everyone can't. So one would better know what is needed!)

- 1080p60 everywhere?
- Well, ideally! If a setup can't 60fps at very specific places, it is good to mention that setup!

Where to start?

Recommended System Requirements

One way to known what is needed would be to look at every component's specs and compare them to the game's recommended system requirements. But we won't know the framerate until we buy-build-play, because we don't know what the recommended system requirements can do.

official benchmark

Another way to known what is needed would be to look at the official benchmark results players share and look at those players' PC builds. But the benchmark score says nothing about framerate. At best, you get the average framerate in the expended results, but nothing about its min/max/dispersion. And values are, well, just values. I found a Windows 10 test version, so I could run the benchmark on my PC. With all settings at their lowest, I scored 1500+. According to the official site: "Capable of running the game, but will experience slowdown. Adjusting settings may improve performance." Didn't it see I had all settings already adjusted and an average 10fps?

Another way to known what is needed is to check this site. I found it recently, it has all the theoretical information needed.
- they have different budget-tier builds;
- each build is rated according to a few games, including WoW;
- the rating system refers to a resolution/framerate target;
- they have different "best game builds", including one for World of Warcraft Legion. I asked them, and it seems a wow-4-star build should be more than fine for FFXIV.

Ok. So, theoretically, I know what I need. But am I sure about it and can I get it with less?

There's only one non-theoretical way to known what is enough: ask players what PC build they have and how close to 1080p60 they get. We Want You!



If you play FFXIV on PC, can you reply this way? (64bits, DirectX11 would be nice, since Stormblood will require them!)

 - GPU;
 - RAM;
 - whatever seems important too.

- GPU; RX 480 (recently bought, had radeon 7850 before)

If I understand right, your PC gets below 60fps only at Idyllshire. That's good to know! And your GPU is enough, so good to know too

About Idyllshire:
Is it possible that you get a better framerate by lowering your visual settings, or is it really a CPU issue?

I probably could but I got this card so I would be able to run the game on ultra settings (as well as other things). Before that I had to tune down a lot of things (reflections, shadows, etc) or I'd be really bad in Idyllshire. If I faced a certain way, my game would freeze completely for a second and even then I'd get at most 30 FPS (and that was with mostly facing the ground). I've had the same CPU for 3 years now and when I got it then, it was only a step down from the then current top of the line AMD 8350.

Share your PC builds and their abilities to run 1080p60

5) The PC build is:
- CPU - i7 4790
- GPU - GTX 980ti
- RAM - 8GB 2666Mhz - Dual Channel

This is while Playing @ 4K Resolution, so I imagine 1080p would be much higher.

Because FFXIV is primarily CPU Bound when pushing for a constant 60FPS this is the build that you could work with.

i7 (Quad with Hyperthreading - Ivybridge or better)
8 GB of Ram - FFXIV does prefer higher ram speeds so 2133Mhz or better
GPU - GTX 1060(maybe GTX 1050ti?) or RX 480 (RX 470?)

You can pair an i7 with a much cheaper GPU and achieve the contant 60 FPS at 1080p.

You can also use an i5 IvyBridge or newer for a near constant 60FPS but there will be dips in highly populated areas due to the lack of Hyperthreading.

currently running an odd setup buddy replaced all his stuff and gave me his old things not that im complaining lol went form athlon 22o to fx 9590 and a gt 430 to a 780ti sc


60+ no issues anywhere

Do you know how low your framerate falls at Idyllshire? Is it getting close to 60fps or do you have much more? (ie. is your build extra powerful or is it still required for Idyllshire?) An i7 6700K is quite expensive!
You mention hyperthreading: is it like multithreading?
Dreaming noob question: have you tested your CPU's integrated graphics? Is it nowhere near capable or could it run the game at lowest settings?

FFXIV required build is kinda roller coaster depending in where you are in game

Sidenote, I run the game at a 2560*1080 most of the time at 70~75 FPS with a secondary screen beside it.

A fully crowded Idylshire and 24 man raid boss fights dip my FPS.
- How low does the framerate fall to?
Never below 45.

- CPU; Intel i7 2600k (An oldy, but it still does what I need it to do.)
- GPU; Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
- RAM; 16GB

My system could probably perform a lot better considering its specs, I'm going to have to test this once I've installed my new hard drives and have given my PC a completely fresh installation, which I haven't done since 2012(?)

Mmh it seems that to get 60fps in Idylshire, without limiting anything, a PC build should run at 95-100fps elsewhere! Can players confirm this?

Also, players who reported their builds have 8-core/thread CPUs. Is this important? Can 4-core/thread CPUs run at 60fps in Idyllshire?
