I refer you back to my post you cited. Nowhere did I say which console will outperform the others. Are you bent against Nintendo or something? Your arguments are odd, to say the least.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Switch outsold the upgraded PS4s/Xbones. Market penetration on both systems is already pretty high, and I don't think many people are going to replace their current consoles with just slightly improved units for hundreds of dollars more. The Switch, on the other hand, can capitalize on a huge market that never stepped up from a Wii to a Wii U, with Breath of the Wild as a launch title. That's damn sexy.

I'd love to hear your rationale for why you think the slightly better PS4s/Xbones will outsell a brand new console that will be attractive for entirely different reasons while most likely offering a fantastic launch library.

Again, please refer back to my post that you're citing. Nowhere in that post am I addressing button layout. That's just silly you'd even think that.

To ensure all confusion is eliminated, here is my post (which is up above on this same page):

Therefore, if the client that's suitable for the PS4 can run at reduced settings on the Switch, then there's no grounds for resistance -- at least not on that point.
NOTE... I don't literally think the PS4 client would be the same client for other systems. I have faith that most people here understand these things and don't leap to illogical conclusions.

It's their method of internet play.
I know this, but MS now allows Cross Platform, hence my comment.

I'm not against Nintendo, i used to have two 3DS XL for Pokemon only, but sold them because eventually got bored of Pokemon, Pokemon is like Disgaea, is always the same with different skins.

As for the new upgraded consoles outselling a new console is quite simple, those consoles are able to perform 1080p60 or 4k30, which tbh should have been like that when they launched 3 years ago. All the hype around the Switch is because it's also a handheld, go read comments on the launch trailer or reddit posts about the console, it's pretty much because "X game on the go", it's just a handheld console that can be docked and "stream to the TV", this is basically a Nintendo "nVIDIA Shield", except the Shield can play PC games by Streaming and i doubt the Switch can.

What does the Switch bring besides Nintendo exclusives? Hence why i said FFXIV is already available on other platforms if people want to play it.

Let's hope so, competition is always good for the consumer, if the Switch delivers well, then it might happen if not then it won't happen, as simple as that.

The Vita was also very hyped, look at what happened (it doesn't matter what arguments you can come up with against it because before the Vita released no one knew it was going to fail, and we don't know anything about the Switch either besides that's a Hybrid).

I hope not. Don't bring more limitations to the game, we need to go forward.

I'm not really in favour of more console baggage.

I'd think that, given the Wii and Wii U were online at the same time, Nintendo Network would allow for cross-play, but I'm not sure if the servers were cross-platform or if Wii U/3DS and everything else were technically segregated. I'd imagine the former, but since it's not out over here I can't say for certain.
This actually looks bad for the Switch getting FFXIV, as all those console options are Nintendo based.

I guess the better question is, could anyone on any system play together, as that preventing the Xbone port.

True, but the Wii used Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, while the Wii U and 3DS used the Nintendo Network, which are at least technically different.

On the other hand, it's pretty much all academic now - I just looked it up to clarify, and Dragon Quest X is capable of running on the PS4, as well as the Wii U, 3DS, and other options. So the actual internet aspect won't hold FFXIV back from being on the Switch.

I am a massive Nintendo fan, but I think the less focus on restrictive consoles, the better off this game will be.

This. Having played FFXIV with Remote Play on the PS Vita.. It's not a fun experience for anything other than crafting/gathering or just running through quests. There was too much lag and the controls are too small to do anything intense (yes, I tried running extremes and coil with it at the time to see)

If it operates similar to that (remote play is streaming HD video, hence the connection problems while on-the-go) then it's going to be equally worthless, before you even get to the controls. I'm not sure if that's what it does or if the system itself is actually what's portable. If so then the connection won't be too much of an issue compared to Vita, it will just come down to the controls and how well it runs the game.

It's not going to be a stream. The main OS is in the handheld unit, which gets docked to output its content to the TV.
