It was kinda laggy, but I was able to run leveling dungeons with it pretty well on my pld I wouldn't try anything like nin though, lol. Ofc I've since switched to a laptop for ffxiv on the go. XD
Yes, but those aren't buttons, and it's pretty annoying to hit the back touch pad, at least for me, and i'm main NIN, honestly i don't see any class that i could play like that, maybe on Sastasha dungeon only lol

I haven't touched the Vita in a while but i think i disabled the back touch because it was annoying in some games accidentally pressing it and stuff randomly happening.

As for the Switch screen, isn't that big either, i could see the use of many games on it, but not an MMO on the handheld Switch.

Even if the Switch is as powefu las a standard PS4 let's not forget the PS4 came out like 3 years ago and a new PS4 is coming, so the Switch isn't anything amazing like some people seem to think it is.

It's Hybrid, what about the rest? Small screen on the Handheld, bad for MMOs, there's already the Xbox One and PS4 and new versions of them coming, why bother with the Switch? What's so special about it? I don't get it.

I admit i liked what i saw especially because i like Pokemon and could see a big improvement over the awful graphics of the 3DS and some other Nintendo exclusives, but for MMOs? No.

When the PS4 and the Xbox One launched, they're reasonably expensive - With the Switch potentially running just under the original PS4 in performance - I can't see this thing being more expensive then say $299 - Smart money puts the price right in competition with the Xbox One @ $249 and maybe below that. So um - YEA - not to bad (^-^)
Even so it brings nothing new to gamers, sure it has a handheld and is probably cheaper than the Vita+PS4 combo, but isn't anything that new or amazing never seen before.

Even if it's the same specs as a PS4, remember the PS4 came out 3 Years ago, and the Pro is coming, is pretty underwhelming to release a console with those specs in 2016, anyway the Switch Handheld screen is too small for MMOs, it might work for casual play but far from being good for end-game raid or serious play.

I'm against the devs spending time porting the game to the Switch because it would take resources to port which could otherwise be spent in adding stuff to the game.

Then be against it - I don't think for one minute that it will have any kind of effect on Yoshi deciding if it's worth the time and effort to port over to it. Want to know what it brings? It brings Nintendo's SUBSTANTIAL IPs to a console that potentially rivals the XB1 and then does it with a fluid modular state that folks have been clamoring for with their devices for a very long time - I'm glad there is a company that is willing to risk financial ruin in the hopes of finding new and fun ways for us to be entertained.

Besides - most of the innovations folks're enjoying with their consoles? - They're created by Nintendo, so I'm pretty sure that with the patents they're sitting on, Nintendo isn't going anywhere anytime soon (^-^)

What's with all the click-bait titles? As if FFXIV was actually confirmed for the Nintendo Switch

How will it rival with the XB1 and PS4 when they're getting an upgraded version? People spent money on the standard models, they will spend money again to get the best version and in no way the Switch will rival those, we don't even know if it will rival the standard models.

Yoshi will only consider porting the game to the Switch IF the Switch sells enough, not because half a dozen people hyped by something they don't know nothing about want it, and let's be honest they want it because "on the go FFXIV".

The WiiU was released a ton of years after the PS3 with pretty much the same specs but it came way too late, the 3DS only sold well because it has exclusive Pokemon, Marios, Bravely Default and some JP cute games the JP people love, and mainly because there was no competitor and the Vita was a failure.

People were hyped for the Vita, it failed, the Switch will most likely fail too because of outdated specs, if it was released 3 years ago like the XB1 and PS4 it would be another story, now that the Scorpio and Pro are coming i don't see why people should spend money on the Switch with 4k capable consoles coming.

Remember how popular Pokemon GO was? It's dead now. Just a hint.

Wii was a "fad" too but it didn't flop as much as people think. Pokemon go failed because it lacked substance and the developers pulled a no man's sky by not talking.

I'll give you a hint why Nintendo isn't going anywhere and why their games will never be seen on a Sony or Microsoft console - Sony's net worth - 17.7 billion dollars - Nintendo's -18.9 IN THE BANK doing absolutley nothing but developing new ideas for us - Nintendo owns the patents on a good portion of the innovations that're keeping the console market relevant and are being paid on those patents to a very handsome tune that allows them to keep on going till they come up with something that will put them back on top - It's a brilliantly run operation that offers other ways to play games that has resonated with the public in a way that has kept them AND the console market thriving.

Most gamers, namely the famlies, don't usually look at the specs of a console. They look at the content on the console, and if the Switch does what analysts predict and replaces all of Nintendo's handhelds, allowing Nintendo to seamlessly bridge the 2 markets - It's going to do monumentally well and allow Nintendo to finally get back up on the pedestal they deserve to be on (^-^)

I'm obviously of two minds on this, as most people probably are.

    1) I don't want XIV to be weighed down by a console's specs. It remains to be seen whether this would be the case with the Switch in terms of XIV's development. Not only do we know little about the Switch, but we also know little about SE's plans for 4.x and 5.x.

    2) I'd LOVE for the game to be on the Switch if specs weren't an issue for the next couple of expansions. Great way to expand the playerbase further, plus I'd love to be able to play on the go (and my laptop kind of sucks).
