People play MMOs for variety of reasons, story is not always the reason.

Mr/ms Obvious here, the point you are missing, a lot... is that this game is based ON a story, it's odd that you would pick up a story based game and dislike the PRIMARY attraction for it.

Like playing a fighting game for the story, and disliking the actual Competition (the main attraction to a fighting game...)

Playing a puzzle game but having a step by step guide sitting right beside you.

Playing tennis but paying someone to play it for you.

Going to a gym but just sitting on the bench the entire time talking to people working out.

These are all things you CAN do, but you'll be questioned about your goals.

None force you, also on the box/website/wikipedia/etc it doesn't say "this is a story driven MMO" it just says it's a MMO. I can't say this enough, making a story optional doesn't hinder any one else's game.
