    Okay, let's back up.

FFXIV is marketed as a story-based game. Comes with the franchise. This is hardly disputed.

Therefore, most development time is put into the MSQ and the instances that accompany it.

What exactly is making it a side-story optional going to accomplish? Essentially there is now less game to play. Less people have instances unlocked to play with, queues get long, things die, people leave. How is that helping the community? How does that keep subscriptions? How does that keep content alive, when the devs spent time and resources on it?

It doesn't, it leads to a very unhealthy game. The economic repercussions are pretty serious.

Now, if you want to talk about if introducing a leveling potion would be good for the community? You can claim people can learn how to play their job from the tooltips. But is it true in practice? Do you remember people complaining about tanks that leveled up through fategrinding and killing mobs and had no idea what their role was in an instance, and didn't know how to generate hate? What about the DRKs/ASTs right after HW dropped queueing into leveling roulettes with no idea how to play their role? Was that good? Was that fun? Was that healthy? Yeah, the tooltip argument doesn't work in practice, and that's all that matters.

this is evidence that forcing people through the 2.x MSQ doesn't work in practice. those people didn't read the tooltips or don't understand it even if they did. i had no problem with Lv 30 DRK/AST. you're actually giving an example that completely works against you.

oh and good job dodging my Stone Sky Sea suggestion.

On the contrary, this very much supports that the MSQ works, and suggests that starting jobs at level 30 is a problem. These bad tanks clearly did the MSQ as a non-tank, which is why they had no idea how to play DRK. And since it was only a problem with DRK, that pretty well proves that the 15-30 dungeons teach people how to tank.

so you're saying every WAR and PLD at 60 you've encountered is a good tank?

i did the MSQ on ACN/SMN/SCH since i'm a legacy player that didn't have any other jobs to play. all it took for me to learn tanking was run AK with PLD to get my i80 relic weapon.

Every WAR and PLD (and DRK) I've encountered at 60 knows how to tank. They may not all have been great, but they knew what they were doing. This is not the case for level 15-20 tanks, or some DRKs right after HW release.

And the "I did it, therefore everyone can do it" argument is a fallacy. I'm sure you're a conscientious player and a fast learner. Not everyone is.
