Bots In Eorzea - Is anything being done?

I've played this game for a couple of years now, and since the day I started I've stumbled upon many bots on my way. Sometimes in New Gridania, sometimes in Quarrymill. You see them teleporting around between NPCs to complete quests, and most of the time they are 'under ground' and you are unable to even target them. They come in masses and lately it's been every single day. You see them at New Gridania grand company hq getting the achievement "Snakebitten" for joining the GC.

I've mass reported these bots when I've seen them, but yet every single day they return. Seeing these bots every single day makes me think SE does little, if not nothing, to resolve this issue. This is cheating, and when this is allowed to keep happening, how can we be sure everyone playing alongside us are following the rules of the game?

If Square Enix bans one, another will pop up. The only Way would be constantly changing the Client non-stop, that though would kill off the Raid Players.

Take the Bots as an example of Fruit Flies, you simply can't get rid of them without taking too hard measurements.

SE mass bans them in waves. These bots are leveling up to farm crap to sell. They will send gil to other bots, the "banks" who then hoard the gil for RMT purposes. SE lets them level up enough and get enough gil to shuffle that money to the bank, then they'll trace the bank and sub bank bots, and ban them all at once.

So yeah, you're going to see the same bots for a week or two, then all of a sudden they'll be gone. And the botters will start with another batch. It's a never ending cycle. You can read the report SE puts out called "actions taken against RMT" that they publish once a week to see how much work is actually done behind the scenes.

Is SE doing something? Yes.

Is it enough? No.

Is it even possible to do enough, and still keep the game profitable? Probably not.

2 years in Lamia, nothing was done, same bots farmed crystals over and over. A notorious aethersand farmer, farmed for months. Novice Network has over 100+ bots.

1st day in Tonberry, 0 tells, novice chat has no bots, love it

AS much as it sucks to admit, being a a smaller server usually means fewer to no bots. Even the /tells from gil sellers have nearly stopped.

Its usually the opposite actually. Balmung has no tells from gil sellers, as its very hard to make spammer chars constantly.

It's that way on a lot of servers now since they implemented the right-click "Report as RMT" option. I noticed a huge difference on Cactuar, and we're a moderately populated server. Used to I would get anywhere from 5 tells every hour to 30 tells every hour from gil sellers, and after patch 3.4 came out, I don't get any tells from them. It's quite nice. :> I do still see the /say gil sellers in front of the MBs in the city states, and the occasional teleporting bots out in Thanalan usually.
