    HEADING: Aenor Cockburne

In the text it claims Aenor is of the Midlander clan, however her model is decidedly that of a Highlander woman. Unlike some other characters who use Midlander models and are actually Highlanders (Minfillia, Yda, etc.) since there were no Highlander lady models in 1.0 this one is perhaps in error then?

While minor lore inconsistencies are acceptable, spelling mistakes in a professional print version are not. The team involved in editing absolutely should not be given a free pass on that because it dilutes confidence in the quality of your work that you are asking customers to pay for.

Hit F7 for Gods sake. A simple spell check could have fixed those issues.

The vast majority of spelling mistakes in the book are a bunch of fantasy names and terms that would show up on Spellcheck regardless of whether they were spelled correctly. I'm seeing like one legitimate spelling error in this thread ("aughter" vs "daughter"); everything else is something that would be incredibly easy to slip through the cracks.

That's not to say that the QA team behind this book shouldn't strive for improvements, but it's quite a bit more complicated than F7.

I get the feeling you haven't used spellcheck with foreign languages and fantasy terms/names much. Spell check at the level of most of these typos couldve given false positives and many false negatives. Most would have to be spelling and grammar checked by hand regardless.

Also aughter isnt exactly a typo either, it is in this case but the word itself is not.

While true, it is something that is... somewhat disheartening to see in a professional product. If it was some wiki or something then whatever, but a purchased item?

Every first edition has a typo here and there. They tend to be fixed as newer versions come out. Think of it this way: You have the first edition of the Encyclopedia Eorzea, which can be verified by looking in specific places for specific errors. Maybe one day it will be worth more than $50!

    Koji-Fox-san,

I don't know if you will read this, because this thread is already 6 pages long, lol, but I just wanted to say that I am SO IMPRESSED with the tome you helped create. It is amazing! I'm so happy that my husband decided to get it for me when he was in line. (He got in line for merch at 5am on Friday. O.o) I made sure to show the book to anyone who asked at FanFest, and every one of them were quite impressed! I'm just sad that I didn't get a chance to have you sign it! I was able to catch Toshio, and he signed it for me (he even approved the Japanese I was practicing for Yoshi-P!), but I am still missing so many signatures! I guess I will just have to come to the next FanFest and try again!

P.S. After the concert with the Primals, I fear I am fan-girling over you a bit, lol. That concert was so amazing! Truly epic! Everyone did a fantastic job!

(Oh, and btw. My husband spent 4 hours of our 6 hour car-ride home pouring over the Encyclopedia Eorzea. My husband doesn't read books. Like ever. So this was quite impressive.)

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Guys, I think we should avoid having too much chat in this thread about things that aren't error reports to keep it easy for referencing. If we are going to discuss other related things, we should make a new thread.

Understood, but just let me add one last message since we hardly see Koji on the forums outside of the lore section.

After posting yesterday, I started thinking about the message and how I may have made it sound like the fault for the various errata that made it into the final version should in some way be placed at the feet of the many testers who worked on the lore book. I wanted step in again to make it clear that this was most definitely not my intention. The translators and fact checkers in the Localization Department, as well as the talented men and women on our world-class Quality Assurance busted their asses (pardon my French) to make sure this book was as clean as it could be. If anyone needs to shoulder the blame for the typos, flubs, and (hangs head in shame) factual errors, it is me, for I was in charge of approving those final edits. (Or me for not figuring a way to get Anonymoose on the editing board!)

That said, I continue to be amazed and humbled at how the book has been received by the community. I know a lot of you have waited so long for something like this, and I am proud to have been given the chance to be a part of it. This is probably why those errors pain me the most. I’ll do my best to address the majority of the glaring discrepancies here in this thread. As for the spelling and grammatical errors? Any way we can file them under analog charm? No?

    Koji
All is forgiven for the typo erros Koji! Just one small favor if I may, is it possible for you to personally pass on words to Yoshi-san and see if he can somehow get the English version of the lore book up on Amazon (or any other large-scale international shipping stores?) please? I know it won't be easy, but I believe many, many more players (myself included) would love to get their hands on a copy of your effort and hard work. I know it won't be easy, but could you try please? >_<
