I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I feel like when you've written and/or read something a few dozen times, it's nigh impossible to quiet the knowledge of what should be there so you can accurately see what's actually there. And in your team's case, you also have the fact that a 1.x doc and an ARR doc might both be accurately sourced, but actually inconsistent. And on top of that, you have that grammar and syntax is but a small portion of the battle compared to in-world jargon, labels, and minutiae (that may or may not be in the intended state at the time in the first place).
Meanwhile, I've a physical copy of the book, a group of excited friends, Google, every record I've ever archived, a cold drink, and a relaxed pace. Who knows how well I (or anyone else) would be doing in an alternate timeline.
And frankly I will fight hoof and antler he who saith the team didn't land inches from the cup in one swing. Hitting the border of kickass and perfection ain't nothin' to shake a red pen at.

So long as we can actually get a chance to purchase it, I'll be fine with typos D:That said, I continue to be amazed and humbled at how the book has been received by the community. I know a lot of you have waited so long for something like this, and I am proud to have been given the chance to be a part of it. This is probably why those errors pain me the most. I’ll do my best to address the majority of the glaring discrepancies here in this thread. As for the spelling and grammatical errors? Any way we can file them under analog charm? No?

I'm sorry if people are being excessively harsh regarding the typos and other errors. Please don't be too hard on yourself. And to everyone else: even after a book passes through many rounds of edits and MULTIPLE passes by different proofreaders, somehow errors can still sneak through. It's simply the nature of print publishing... and it can be maddening to *anyone* who had a hand in creating that book, especially because they know, better than anyone, everything that has been done to assure the highest level of quality. I hope the community will be more understanding of this moving forward.Hello all,
I know that this goes without saying and that I am (as I am wont do do) probably overthinking the situation, but...
After posting yesterday, I started thinking about the message and how I may have made it sound like the fault for the various errata that made it into the final version should in some way be placed at the feet of the many testers who worked on the lore book. I wanted step in again to make it clear that this was most definitely not my intention. The translators and fact checkers in the Localization Department, as well as the talented men and women on our world-class Quality Assurance busted their asses (pardon my French) to make sure this book was as clean as it could be. If anyone needs to shoulder the blame for the typos, flubs, and (hangs head in shame) factual errors, it is me, for I was in charge of approving those final edits. (Or me for not figuring a way to get Anonymoose on the editing board!)

I'm torn about what all of these edits could mean. On the one hand, I didn't get my book, so I am eager to get my hands on it RIGHT AWAY... but on the other hand, I know it will take time to fix the issues... but I want it now... ;;

Right there with you. I want a version with as many of the little errors cited in this thread fixed as possible. Unfortunately I doubt they'll be able to fix many, if indeed any, of these errors as soon as the second printing, which is definitely what I'll be ordering as soon as I see that e-mail from the SE Store...
Unless they continue to underestimate demand, and whatever amount they print and stock sells out within a half hour again...

I'm not entirely optimistic on the timing if they decide to give it a few more passes before sending the improved version to the printers. I've worked on similar projects in the past, and proofreading alone can take weeks/months and multiple people dedicating the majority of their time to just that project. That said, I am in no way affiliated with SE -- and I have no idea how they do things over there. So maybe we will be surprised! Either way, I'm just ridiculously excited to get one of these books in my hand... with or without the errors. I've never been this excited about reading a lore book before and now I really regret not standing in line for hours on Friday just to make sure I got one. I didn't realize they'd sell out and I feel so silly for making that assumption. I was right there! Ahhhhhh.Right there with you. Do you know how AGGRAVATING it is to read you talking and talking and talking about something the vast majority of your customers never had a chance to get hold of due to someone in SE making the asinine decision to limit it to only a fortunate few?
Do you?

+1 for getting Moose on the editing board!
Though in all seriousness, mistakes happenThe things I've read from this thread are nowhere even remotely near as bad as a few fantasy books I've bought and had to actually get a refund for because they were completely unreadable..
The only thing I'm upset by is how I can't get a copy of the book T_T
