As with the previous tar pit topics, I'm just going to lay it all out there and you guys can decide which part is wrong.
The first Trident was held in 992nd year of the Sixth Astral Era and was meant to be held every 7 years thereafter.
If no admirals ever died in office, the 72nd Trident should have taken place in 1496. However, it took place in 1474, where Geisswaen retained the admiralty thanks to Keltlach (spelled Keitlach in the timeline) betraying One-eyed Wylfred.
This offset speeds up the timetable by 22 years, implying that some admirals had their reigns cut short and emergency Tridents were held. This interpretation is further supported by the fact that Merlwyb won the Trident in 1563, just after the assassination of the then-admiral (a name for him would help), as regardless of whether you start adding sevens from 1496 or 1474, there shouldn't have been a Trident in 1563 unless such emergency iterations are indeed a thing.
Now, the 1563 trident was the 85th, which should have taken place in 1587 if no admirals died in office. We've added two years to the timetable offset. If you start adding sevens from the outcome of the 72nd Trident, however, you should have a Trident in 1565, perhaps isolating the exact two years in question.
All of this works so far... but now we run into a problem.
If the previous pattern holds, Merlwyb should have ran a Trident in 1570, but we've no record of it (that I can recall?). Moreover, in 1.0 (1572), Merlwyb was constantly referred to as the "new" admiral. Compounding this is that in 1.0 (1572), many times in many story arcs it was said that the next Trident was right around the corner.
None of that seems to line up. I suppose that we can perhaps ignore that she was called "new" in 1572 despite being 9 years into her admiralty; it may have been an awkward word choice meant to contrast her reign to that of the admiral who died in the 1562 echoes. However, a Trident occurring in 1572 or 1573 only seems to work if the 1562 admiral wasn't assassinated.
So I think we have a missing 1570 Trident and a bunch of people who think one was supposed to happen in 1572-3.
Or this all makes sense and I'm just bad at math. (The latter is true either way.)

Having finally gotten my own copy, I can safely say that the Lore Book does confirm most of my findings on the Allagan Empire. This presents an entire slew of other problems which I have detailed quite well enough in the past, but the book itself seems fine on a cursory examination.

Wasn't the rest of the passage before the last sentence also talking about the Raen who came to Othard from some foreign homeland? Perhaps this last sentence is supposed to say Near East? Perhaps in reference to this old Herald article? Or does it mean even further Far East across the Ruby Tide to Hingashi?Believing themselves the children of the Dawn Father, the forebears of the Raen left behind their homeland to settle across Othard. They were received with hatred and hostility by other races in the early years, until a prominent warlord of Yanxia, impressed with their valor, forged an alliance with the strange race and took them on as retainers. Before long, the Raen had assumed a prominent role as warriors in the service of countless great warlords. Some ventured across the sea to the Far East, where they earned a reputation as legendary swordmasters.

I caught glimpse of one such blade hanging on the hip of a Twin Adder officer returning from a drill, and humbly asked if I might examine it up close. Let it suffice to say that I was duly impressed by the craftsmanship.
Giantsgall
A variety of stone found only on Thavnair, possessing exceptional hardness. Its name is derived from a legend that tells of a Far Eastern hero who voyaged to the selfsame island and there vanquished a savage giant. A nearby stone drank up the slain giant's blood and gall, thus receiving of its strength.

The Xaela entry says the Azim Steppe is their "not abandoned ancestral home"...the Raen entry should be referring to there.Wasn't the rest of the passage before the last sentence also talking about the Raen who came to Othard from some foreign homeland?
