I just noticed this Castrum seems to be just beyond Baelsar's Wall, could it be Castrum Oriens? I wonder if we'll actually visit it as a dungeon first, in 3.5 or 3.55?

SE has never and likely will never added dungeons in a .X5 patch.
Trials on the other hand seems more likely but even with Vishap as a precedent there is a much stronger precident at work here...The patch cycles rigid schedule of 2 dungeons and 1 unique trial for patch (I'd say two trials period but 3.1 only had Thordian's Reign) and Zurvan already has 3.5's Trial locked in. So I'd give it a slight chance (and even then people also want a Regula von Kefka trial as well)
All that said it all means that the castrum will more likely appear as a dungeon in 3.5, right? Not Quite, There is a strong possibility that Neverreap (Hard) and the Fractal Continuum (Hard) will be 3.5's dugneons

I don't think we'd get two hard mode dungeons in one patch, we usually get a story one (sometimes a side quest one) and a HM. To be fair, we've only ever had the one x.55 conclusion patch, so we only have 2.55 to compare to, so we could easily get an extra dungeon to finish off the 3.x series. I feel we'd definately be taking down Oriens before we begin Stormblood, as starting an expansion with a dungeon would be a nightmare.SE has never and like ly will never added dungeons in a .X5 patch.

He's an intriguing character - that he has survived fighting against the Warrior of Light on three occasions is a testament to his ability. Don't let the convenient plot device that is the Warrior of Light's power and plot armour detract from the capabilities of those that oppose him.
Regula getting the Kefka treatment would be a waste though. It's far better for him to be this game's Gabranth or Larsa - especially with the FFXII references coming up in 4.0.
Sure he survived due to running away but I can't really be affraid of a guy that I have beaten 3 times already. He is like a rival in pokemon. Always making excuses how he is stronger despite getting beaten all the time. He is just a wannabe legatus far behind Gaius and Eula. Especially Eula. "SAVAGES!" "CAN YOU WITHSTAND THIS?!?!?!" cant take the guy seriously anymore after getting my anima finishedSure he survived due to running away but I can't really be affraid of a guy that I have beaten 3 times already. The Lore book gives more background about him as well. I'm kind of torn about it though. Part of me wants us to drive Regula back to the Emperor and that forces the Emperor to have him executed to show that he's not held back by personal relationships regardless of their nature. Of course Regula would probably accept that as the price of his failure. He's an intriguing character - that he has survived fighting against the Warrior of Light on three occasions is a testament to his ability. Then again, actually killing Regula would also be fun. He's managed to escape me a few times, I've been really wanting to rectify that situation. But considering how the VIth Legion has appeared in the Warring Triad storyline so far, my theory is either that he'll get tempered by Zurvan or we'll deal with him in a solo instance.
But now I'm trying to remember something. What was the order of release for seph -> regula instance -> goddess? 3.2 -> 3.3 -> 3.4? Either way, I'm convinced we'll deal with Regula one way or the other by the end of the Warring Triad story.
With the way that the legions work, this won't happen, but you are onto something. Nael was the VIIth Legion (meteor), Regula is the VIth legion (warring triad), Gaius is the XIVth legion (2.0 MSQ). And then we have the new guy Zenos yae Galvus of the XIIth legion, if anyone is the Gabranth or Larsa of this game, it will be him (it was hinted that he would be a more complex character than the others).
Regulas entire thing is the warring triad plot, I don't see him making it into 4.0, so having him not become Kefka-esque would be a waste IMO.
