How exactly open world dungeons even work? If the rewards were good, then it would be absolutely swarmed. Difficulty would be next to none due to the massive amount of zerging.
i feel they did either not seen or not remember how hunt did end at the start.... 100-200 people on one poor monster.... that was was up for what? 1 sec... and all the drama about early puller and such. no open world content nor dungeon they are outdated content for a time where it was not possible to create multiple content... an easy way to create content. but at the same time the worst type :x
Initially, I liked the idea of an open world dungeon in FFXIV. But then I remembered games like Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot, Ragnarok Online, Terra, Tree of Savior, and any other MMO game that I may have forgotten, containing open world dungeons. What do they all have in common, in terms of the open world dungeon? Bots, campers who hog all the objectives, griefers who train monsters on an unsuspecting party, people getting in territorial disputes, which counts as campers hogging all the objectives, forum wars about said territorial disputes, bots, and griefers... and that's not counting the Open World PvP that people seem to want so much. Throw that in the mix, we'll add PKing to that list.
FATEs and hunts are enough for me, but if SE can figure out a nice way to implement open world dungeons, without the risk of anything I mentioned above (unless that's the point of the dungeons), then I'd be down for trying it.

We need much more open-world stuff in general, this game has way too much instanced stuff.
Going off my earlier post about open world dungeons, I think I just had a cool idea for an open world dungeon. Anyone who's played Dark Age of Camelot might know what I'm pulling this from.
You know how there are three Grand Companies, right? And they like to have friendly* battles to control territory, right? What if there were an open world dungeon like Darkness Falls, where all three Grand Companies could contest for relics, special treasures belonging to the leaders of the GCs, which give benefits to any GC who possesses all three relics? Instead of doing PvP combat for them, it could be like a race between GCs to complete special FATEs, available only inside the dungeon. And in order to steal a relic, it'd require a GC to KO the champions who protect it.

If it's anything like Ashran in WoD, then one GC will utterly dominate leading to everyone funneling to one GC making queue times for PvP even worse. Also the GC battles aren't about territory nor are they even pretending to be friendly. It's a bloodbath free-for-all that's being tolerated because of the Eorzean Alliance doesn't want to war against each other, but the Allagan technology is too valuable to give up willingly. It also serves as a front for preventing would be power mongers from gunning for the Allagan super weapon at the bottom of the Carteneau Flats.Going off my earlier post about open world dungeons, I think I just had a cool idea for an open world dungeon. Really need fun fates
Oh, definitely. The open world dungeon FATEs could be about more than just killing X number of monsters, or downing a big boss, or collecting items for some idiot whose feet can't move. I'm thinking of a mini-game like "capture the flag," which does involve killing monsters, but for a different purpose. And you'd be contesting with other GCs in that. Anyway, gotta go back to work now!
