Red Mage confirmed or nah?

It is going to be Red Mage, because you are just overthinking it now. They wore a Batman shirt and a 007 shirt for the last fanfest which equated to Dark Knight and Machinist, not Caped Crusader and Double Agent. So it's best to just see scarlet witch for what she is as a whole, she wears red and uses magic, there is no more complexity to it and no need to because they are just repeating what they did last time, the dark knight and a secret agent known to use guns/spy gear aka machines/technology.

I guess because they were somewhat popular jobs in XI. Same goes for Dancer and Samurai.

Seriously, though, I think folks who like RDM are folks who like the idea of a front-line, magic-using combatant - something this game currently only has with Dark Knight and, to a lesser extent, Paladin.

Because it WAS more than a cross between black and white mage. They fought with swords and could wear all but the heaviest armors while being able to use white and black magic to a lesser extent than white and black mage, respectively.
