I'm all for being able to skip story quests if people have no interest in it, but people need to level from the ground up. I do not feel the story helps people to learn their classes. I feel it is the leveling, going into dungeons, getting your skills in little doses as to not overload someone. Leveling does not take long in this game, and if you can skip the story, it would take even less time to get to higher content.

I do not want to see a level booster that brings someone to max level out the bat. My experience in wow after theirs was added completely ruined my dungeoning experience, so much so that I ended up quitting. I mean, I do enjoy helping people, but I already deal with people not listening to advice and think they are experts (even though they only played the game for a week). It would only get worse with level boost potions.

I was annoyed enough at the HW jobs starting at 30 rather than 1. It's a lesser case of the same problem. People didn't get the first 30 levels worth of learning how their early skills work together and got dumped into Brayflox with no clue what they're doing. (Ok, sure they at least know the game by then, but not their new jobs.) But at least it was mid-game content and not end-game content that was affected, so the damage was fairly minimal. A level booster that took jobs any farther than that could cause a lot more havoc.

I won't lie, it took me three runs of Haukke Manor to realize Unmend was my ranged pulling skill when I first picked up DRK.

1-30 teaches you very little, other then "here is 2-3 skills, spam them none stop". any decent player can quickly learn a job at 30, so starting at 30 is actually good, and don't think before HW people were magicaly great when they reached 30, some still played as if they had just started the job, since spamming a few skills taught you not much, as a healer, you already know regardless of being at 1 or 30 that you need to make sure people do not run out of hp. etc, and since FATE leveling was taking over back then it was actually worse. so that further proves it.

1-29 is mind nubming and i hope they do away with it, or at least make starting from one actually interesting.

Rather than cutting out the story, simply abberviate it.

Cut out all the fetch quests and move the minor story points to side-stories, but keep the main thrust of it. Enough that you cut down the 50->60 quests to a good manageable chain of 15-20, with say 30-40 or so for total 3.X content. This gives you about 45-60 quests between level 50 and the new expansion without getting anyone lost.

For example almost all of the post-50 primal stuff (levithan, king mog, etc..) could be side quests without losing out on what you need to keep players up to date for on the main story (crystal braves, ul'dah).

It's 17 skills (from a possible 21-24 since there's some choice in the cross-class ones), and if you think you can get away with spamming just 2-3 of them, that's what I was talking about when I mentioned players having no clue what they're doing. If people leveled up normally, they'd gain those skills one by one, and get a chance to learn how each works.

A lot of the primal stories are still very much integrated into the main story (since that's sorta what the scions are all about). Sure, there's fat to be trimmed--a few fetch quests here and there--but not really as much as you'd think because of how much every major plot hook is ingrained into the main story.

Summer slowly approaches, and 4.0 with it. There is still more than enough time to catch up, even if you're doing it from scratch.

Yeah, I don't like the thought of a jump potion either. Don't much like the thought of more Mog Station stuff regardless. I actually enjoy the leveling process in MMOs and don't want to skip THAT part. What I don't want is to be funneled through the MSQ before being able to access basic functionalities like different classes or dungeons.

After 79 pages, I'm sure everything I want to say has already been said. Multiple times.

I am only here to ask the veterans to continue to help the new players through the old content. I know you can run it in your sleep, but I can't even to begin to mention how helpful many veteran players have been towards me after only been playing six months, and slowly make my way to 3.x

It's a generosity that goes a long way. Believe me.
