only the first week, like with nin. ppl who wanna tank, will keep tanking - ppl who wanna heal, will keep healing - ppl who wanna dps, will keep DPSing; they aren't going to change roles, because of a launch being messy (regardless if it's a new job, patch or expansion)It will be very messy if they include multiple DPS jobs at once for queues/role balancing unless they increase the required amounts of people in a duty from the current 4/8 (seems unlikely). Wouldn't be surprised if they decided to push Samurai back for an expansion that centers around the East, we've had no confirmation it'll be in Stormblood at all.
and you can do stuff that doesn't need trinity-que - you can go PotD for example, which doesn't require all roles; or leves, beast tribe quests, fates.
funny i have friends and i meet many ppl how change roles thanks to DRK and WAR meta and stay today, so can happen if you release a cool job with a nice gameplay move ppl to that role and find is not as boring as many say, there is no boring job or role in ffxiv, bcs all depend of the player, and make all roles atractives and have multiples and new fresh gameplays can and make all we enjoy this great MMO much more.
Arguably, we're short a melee intelligence user and a ranged strength user if we're trying to fill the remaining basic archtypes, so DPS are probably the only ones who should be guaranteed one of those. We have our Flat Heals, Mitigation Heals and Balance- DPS Tank, Tank Tank and Balanced Tank.
And expect it or not, doesn't change what is.
No, DPs is dps is dps. There is no more reason to add it anymore than someone wants a tank that uses a hammer except you know some people really think "HAMMERS ARE AWESOME"
There is no reason to add anything, other than "people want it".
Your argument's logic would just be used against you with any counter point you would then try to make.
This is actually the coolest idea I've heard for SAM.
Make them attack from the front!
Add like 10 potency to all attacks if they are done from the front.
The SAM would have to dodge cleaves when possible, but instead of offensive CDs like Blood for Blood, they would get defensive CDs to survive the boss cleaves.
DRG was alrdy able to take hits from some EX primals, as they were used as OTs by the japanese before.
So this alone would be extremely interesting to pull off.
(Their only offensive CD should apply the 10 potency to all attacks, regardless of your current position.)
To make up for their near tank like defenses, they would need to lack AoE potential, and something that hinders their threat potential. (such as adding to the defensive CDs a lower threat generated or cut current threat, to avoid them MTing.)

The first week of a new expansion is very important though, and you only have to look at other MMOs where new classes are implemented (especially DPS) to see that queue times get thrown off heavily because everyone wants to try the new jobs. Demon Hunters in Legion gave 45+ minute queues while it was instant for healers and almost the same for tanks despite there being a DH tank spec. While there is other content to level classes other than dungeons and following the MSQ, it's still the number one thing people will be doing when the expansion hits. I can't see people wanting to do old content when there's new stuff available.only the first week, like with nin. ppl who wanna tank, will keep tanking - ppl who wanna heal, will keep healing - ppl who wanna dps, will keep DPSing; they aren't going to change roles, because of a launch being messy (regardless if it's a new job, patch or expansion)

The starting level of the new jobs will play an interesting role that also limits the amount of content you can do on them. Personally I'd rather level my current main (which is DPS) to 70 and then try out RDM afterwards, but I know others will prefer to jump straight onto the new jobs and throw the current balance off kilt. I agree it'll level out as time goes by and people will tend to stick to their preferred role, but it will still be more DPS than there was before if they choose to only put DPS classes in.
With Heavensward release we had huge amount of Dark Knights and Astrologians, I had instant queues for Machinist.![]()
Well it does all depend on the player, i refuse to play any tank jobs, regardless of what it is and how it's played, some people will just stick to what roles they like and stay there. in fact if drk was a DPS job i would have likely used it at some point, but since it was a tank, i have 0 interest in it. so if people "switch' to these roles they always had an urge to do so anyway.funny i have friends and i meet many ppl how change roles thanks to DRK and WAR meta and stay today, so can happen if you release a cool job with a nice gameplay move ppl to that role and find is not as boring as many say, there is no boring job or role in ffxiv, bcs all depend of the player, and make all roles atractives and have multiples and new fresh gameplays can and make all we enjoy this great MMO much more.
Your argument falls apart because 90% of Heavensward Dragoon gear is exactly the same as the Fending gear from a visual standpoint. And some sets they have unique looks for are just as heavy or heavier than the equivalent tank gear. So you can't say they couldn't wear the heavy tanking armor and then in the same breath say the Maiming gear would be perfect for them because visually they're the same.
and where are all the drk and ast of the release? most of them have switched back to them main.
yeah a few did stay, but most of them haven't.
i do play the tank (i do have the 3 max level) but do i feel another tank is needed? no, and if they add another tank, they need to make it totally different of what we have soo far.... maybe a magical tank instead of a classical physical meatshield tank.
