Samurai Tank...

Based on the speculation that with increased budget we "may" get three classes... Samurai could possibly be a tank. My personal opinion is that's a bad move towards players that like two-handed dps jobs. If Samurai is a tank then we have 4 two-handed classes in the game, 3 of which are tanks. So you pretty much have to play Dragoon to enjoy a 2-handed playstyle.

I'd say it's incredibly doubtful. I recall Yoshi P saying that if Samurai were to ever be added, it would be a DPS. I don't have the source thoooough.

At the time he does put down the thought of Samurai as Tank but said he would be open to looking into the possibility.

Samurai or Red mage as tank. And the real question is will there be a trinity or will there be all 3 be dps class additions to the game

What 2 handed playstyle? It makes no difference in gameplay. And even if Samurai was a tank there are other jobs that would work as dps job that uses a sword, however dps already have monk and ninja, and it would be nice for a tank with an eastern theme.

Then that would mean the tank falls to dancer or red mage, i first figured red mage to be the healer, but if you have played FFXI dancer being the healer can and does make sense. altho i personally am not a fan of melee dps jobs i would love for it to be DPS. as DRK was a huge let down. (not a bad job just would have been better as a DPS)

I think we're pretty sure that only 2 classes are coming this expansion. So we don't necessarily need a new tank over anything else.

Same could be said of DPS, with 3x the budget I expect at least 3 jobs.

Sure they only showed two silhouettes on "New Jobs", but hopefully they'll reveal new jobs during JP FanFest in December.
