Personally I think the trailer just depicts two MNKs.

It's important to remember that this is a cinematic and is therefore not completely representative of what's in game. Just because she uses some moves that MNKs don't, it doesn't automatically make her a new class. It's also been said that we are going to meet this NPC in the near future - and as we know, NPCs don't often follow the rules imposed on us as players in game. We also have no idea how the classes we currently have will be evolving from lvl 60 to 70 - it's very possible that MNKs more get some skills that are more fluid, as shown in the trailer.
Personally, a few months ago, I would have agreed with your first paragraph. However, after playing Demon Hunter in Legion, I've found that I actually really like melee. None of the jobs in FFXIV give me that same sense of fun when I play them. I'd love to have a melee that I can enjoy here, and Dancer looks like it could be

I'd say that the things I don't like about MNK were very prevalent in the cutscene and the things I like about Demon Hunter were prevalent in her moves (i.e. more free-flowing and fluid. It's hard to really describe).

You point out that NPC's don't necessarily follow the same rules as players, so what is to say that this NPC is not a DNC with some MNK abilities?

I am keeping an open mind. I can see arguments for both sides and both make a lot of sense. We'll just have to wait a few months to see

I think this is where I feel your argument falls apart a little, almost her entirety of abilities look MNK.

But as you said, nothings confirmed yet!

I agree with you. Her moves don't look pure Monk or pure dancer. She looks like a combination, like Y'shtola. I think they combined Monk and the blade dancer. And the blade dancer comes from Ala Migho, I belive.

Dont mean to trounce on anyones hype but its not like a mnk couldnt glam a thav dress and /kata dance
Im not saying dancer isnt teased here at all, but im saying that that could just be a new dance theyre showing off?

The outfit does look very elegant and dancer-like, and that could be all that theyre teasing whether its a new glamour or actual dnc gear.
I doubt that dnc will branch from monk, however ala migho is pretty much the monk land, it wouldnt be too far fetched to assume its just mnk stuff being showcased. Very strong argument for hype and the moonfire event tho

Another note is that this is a cinematic "they arent monk moves shes doing:
Do dragoons have 4 hit combos while midair like in the hw trailer? no? But they showed it! Those are drg moves!

I don't think the double soulstone as branching as a mnk could be a bad thing. Considering SCH and SMN are Heals and DPS. Pug could be MNK as DPS and DNC as Melee Heals.
They did say they are revamping the battle system. For all we know they could be changing the dynamics of the Tank DPS Heals to Tank DPS Heals and a PURE SUPPORT.
I shrug. I play monk too so I'll be happy for whatever it is.

Pug has some great cross class skills. Since they are making all class cross available. Mantra could be a skillset.

I think her moves are slightly different from the monk abilities we've seen (and slightly different from derplander's) because she didn't have to learn all of her monk skills from a single monk-in-hiding.

I'm on board the Yda train and would not be surprised if she was some high ranking, highly skilled monk from Ala Mhigo and thus her more refined skills.

I'm not buying that she's a dancer. I don't believe they would show new jobs in a trailer, at least not so early (considering that wasn't the whole trailer). I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound right to me. To me she a monk that's just more graceful (as women tend to be thought as graceful). Personally, I believe trailers give sneak peeks at possible story in the game. Since it's going to be heavily monk influenced, who's to say it's not a little peek at a possible scenario of one of the future monk quests, and you fight this lovely lady to learn new skills that make you more graceful? Since it is a small portion of the full trailer, I believe both characters are monks. Just as we saw dragoons in the HW trailer, we are obviously going to see a lot of monks in this new trailer.

I want dancer more than anything, but the blonde lass doesn't scream dancer to me.

It could be a sect of Dark monk moves that she's using? There are 2 different sects: Light (which we trained under) and Dark. Sohe movement might show that and them saying she's a monk is still true

Sure would be nice if people would stop lumping Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Do into the same category. Sure they are both martial arts but, they both use very different styles. Same can be said between these two fighters. Just because they both fight using arms and legs doesn't mean they're the same ;P

I don't know what you're implying. Are you implying Tai Chi is a dance as well? It's very much a martial art. Monks move sets adopt many martial arts, so yes it is fine to lump martial arts for something as eclectic as monk.

    Edit in bold.
