"I honestly think that if someone has a different opinion than me, they're clearly and idiot who cannot think logically or critically."
There is plenty of evidence throughout the thread for and against it being a Dancer/Monk.
For Dancer
- A solid 10% of the video focuses on her dancing. This is a pretty significant chunk of time that alludes to a dancer only for Square to back out and say "Got you!"
- Her movements are clearly more fluid than his (which are quite rigid)
- During the video she uses her feet more and moves around more, while he remains more stationary and punches more
- She has a hidden dagger-type weapon, which is focused on key artwork here and here. While it is possible for a Monk to use this weapon, it's hardly iconic of the Monk job - so why make it such a focus in the artwork?
- The expansion artwork appears to show 1 of each job in the game (Mind you I've only been able to identify BRD, PLD, DRK, MNK, DRG, NIN only, but have counted 16 jobs - current 13+3. I also suspect that bird above may be Garuda-Egi). Monk is clearly to the ladies right, which either means they have 2 Monks in the image with 1 of every other job (and we're getting 2 new ones), or she is a separate job and we are getting 3 new ones. (or I miscounted?). Also on that note, I see GLD, DRK and two other sword wielding jobs - which suggests the SAM/RDM that we are all expecting.
- The Rangers in the summer were said to be "hints" of upcoming jobs. I am not sure on this, but I read somewhere someone said that the Yellow Ranger pose is identical to a Dancer pose in FFXI?
For Monk
- The image above where it focuses on her weapon could just be that it is a weapon of Royalty or has some other story value associated with it
- She uses Pugilist and/or Monk abilities (could be cross classed, could be Hybrid NPC i.e. Yshtola, could just be Monk)
- She's blonde, so she must be Yda? (while it could be true, she also could just be blonde). Yda is a Monk (like no other NPC's have changed jobs before when new jobs are added).
- Her new abilities could be new Monk ones added from 61-70
Now almost all of the evidence are merely hints & speculation, so nothing can be confirmed concrete. To say "I am right, and if you think otherwise you are grasping at straws" is clearly dismissive and condescending. This forum here is in part to let people theorycraft and speculate. Let people have fun. If you don't want to take part, don't. If you have counter-arguments, please share![]()

I'm baffled at how when they portray a different aspect of monks some people delude themselves into thinking it's something completely different, like dancer. It's like some people have never ever in their lives watched any kind of media portraying shaolin MONKS. I bet some haven't even seen nor remember the mentions of monks chanting mantras in the Hildy quests. Ala Mhigo's monk culture isn't just about pummeling things to death.
I admit, when I started watching the trailer for the first time, with no prior info, the first moments indeed seemed like she was a dancer because of the outfit and the graceful moves all over the place, but later things started becoming more clear. But other people still haven't cooled their heads off enough to realize what's going on in that scene and that she's another monk.

If it makes you feel any better, the red and blue auras at the end of the teaser made me think of RDM and BLU. =3I'm baffled at how when they portray a different aspect of monks some people delude themselves into thinking it's something completely different, like dancer. while you're absolutely right on this, at the same time final fantasy is all very strict with class themes. while it COULD be that we're getting some soft style monk moves, or even a variant monk type, it's equally reasonable to see "flowing, graceful moves" and think dancer, especially with the costume and sash too.
basically: it's too early to make an educated assumption, so just get hype for whatever it ends up being. i'm hoping for dancer, but it'll be ok if not
Haymaker could be interesting if it was off the global cooldown...i want to point out, like on another thread, that the featherfoot skill was show as one of the reassement skill of the monk. i can see a few skill of the monk that need reassement, if i had to give example it will be:
- haymaker, it's a rest of the V1 that have no real actual use in our tools

Maybe OP's post is a bit unpleasant, but he has a valid point.
The problem is that people will spread misinformation. I already read (in game and forums) how dancer was confirmed. They're stating their speculations as if they are facts.
Lot's of people watched the stream, but even more didn't. For them it's easy to accept these "speculations" as facts. I rather have a happy community than a disappointed one.
On a side note: her "dancing" looks an awful lot like when you switch stances on MNK. Also her fighting leads me to believe she's a MNK.
Then again only if I am right, the team can now see that people really want to play DCN. You never know how big of an inluence that can be. I hope the community gets it at some point in 4.0...
