There Is No Dancer (yet)

well if thats REALLY dancer thats gonna be some disappointing job identity. Obviously the weapon you primarily use doesnt define your job or class in the ff 14 universe.

Actually, the weapon you use primarily does define your job. That's pretty much the how the game is designed. "Change your weapon, change your job!" Based on the rest of your post, I am not sure if you're saying the first half in sarcasm as well, in defense of it being a monk? The main reason I think it is not a monk is that I've never seen a weapon quite like that on a Monk AND it's a central focus in the expansion artwork. It's either hinting at a new job, or there is some other significance of the unusual weapon.

In terms of disappointing job identity, well, look at AST. It's basically a SCH or a WHM and then you add in cards. I'm not hating on AST, but you cannot deny, it's identity is either shield or heal + buffs. Look at MCH which is eerily similar to BRD. Look at DRK which is half like a paladin, half like a warrior.

It doesnt mean she couldnt be like "and oh yeah, im actuallly a dancer", but in this particular fight i think shes just showcasing monkness. its ala migho, punching and kicking are their thing. Im definately playing the NPC card with this lady, which means she could be a dancer, but in the trailer shes monking around with the derplander

Indeed, and to be honest, I don't really want her to be a dancer. I want to try a new job, but I am not a huge fan of MNK. If they just made a MNK 2.0, that would be depressing.

The focus on her hidden dagger in both released art pieces is too much to ignore. That said, it is likely she is a Monk and this weapon has some sort of story significance.

I'd also support her being a DNC/MNK hybrid, and DNC being a melee DPS that plays differently than the current 3.

if this thing is indeed a projectable ribbon, with dagger attatched, it would make an interesting dnc that could possibly use a whip like weapon. Medium range melee.
