So yes, people assumed quite a bit about Palace of the Dead. When it was finally released, it wasn't as expected so people used their own personal revisionist history to 'believe' that the devs promised them something that in all actuality they never did. The hype just ran rampant till it nearly became accepted as fact.
You said that people will make stuff up and claim the devs promised it and then rage that the devs didn't deliver on the made up promise.

You then provided 1 example of people being upset about something that had nothing to do with made up promises.
You then listed several examples of the devs breaking actual promises.

There was no examples listed of someone making up a promise and then holding the devs accountable to it.

If there is a specific example of people who believed the devs promised something that they didn't, and then raged that it wasn't implemented, I'm all for seeing the example. Telling me that people were upset with PotD implementation is not an example of this.
