1) They said they were two monk fighting. (and maybe that's my speculation : the woman in red is Yda or a relative).
2) Yoshi said the tee shirt was the only hint for a new new job this fanfest.
Conclusion : No dancer yet. Red mage 98% confirmed

As stated before, this was not said at all. YoshiP only verified the guy in the trailer was the Warrior of Light and that this expansion would focus on monk in the same way last expansion focused dragoons.
Seriously, please stop spreading misinformation.

MNK movements aren't as fluid as Yda's in the trailer, and she was definitely dancing at the start. PUG could branch off into MNK/DNC.

I also do not believe that is Yda but mayhaps her sister?
Yda is clearly a Monk, this fluid movement of this lady in red is much different![]()

Just as Thancred was a BRD and is now a Rogue. It's FF14, everyone changes jobs/classes. Also, with it hinted at Yda being Ala Mhigan royalty or someone of importance (can't deny that the female hyur in the trailer looks classy), could very well be the same person. They look near identical as well with the hair and eys being a clear giveaway. inb4 'no tattoo, no yda', the woman wears a necklace which could very well cover her tattoo up.

Honestly, I don't like the idea of this being a dancer. It's too similar to monk and would add yet another melee dps to the mix when we're still lacking a variety of other class types. I know that Yoshi P heavily alluded to RDM with his Scarlet Witch shit, and I can't see them basically confirming dancer as a class as well before the other two fanfests. Personally I think the trailer just depicts two MNKs.
It's important to remember that this is a cinematic and is therefore not completely representative of what's in game. Just because she uses some moves that MNKs don't, it doesn't automatically make her a new class. It's also been said that we are going to meet this NPC in the near future - and as we know, NPCs don't often follow the rules imposed on us as players in game. We also have no idea how the classes we currently have will be evolving from lvl 60 to 70 - it's very possible that MNKs more get some skills that are more fluid, as shown in the trailer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for dancer, and people are free to speculate and believe what they will. I just hope it's vastly different from MNK, and not like what we see in this trailer.
This.
If that was Dancer then both Monk and Dancer lost a lot of core job identity for 4.o.
Personally, a few months ago, I would have agreed with your first paragraph. However, after playing Demon Hunter in Legion, I've found that I actually really like melee. None of the jobs in FFXIV give me that same sense of fun when I play them. I'd love to have a melee that I can enjoy here, and Dancer looks like it could beHonestly, I don't like the idea of this being a dancer. I'd say that the things I don't like about MNK were very prevalent in the cutscene and the things I like about Demon Hunter were prevalent in her moves (i.e. more free-flowing and fluid. It's hard to really describe).
You point out that NPC's don't necessarily follow the same rules as players, so what is to say that this NPC is not a DNC with some MNK abilities?
I am keeping an open mind. I can see arguments for both sides and both make a lot of sense. We'll just have to wait a few months to see![]()

I think this is where I feel your argument falls apart a little, almost her entirety of abilities look MNK.
But as you said, nothings confirmed yet!
Sure would be nice if people would stop lumping Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Do into the same category. Sure they are both martial arts but, they both use very different styles. Same can be said between these two fighters. Just because they both fight using arms and legs doesn't mean they're the same ;P
