There Is No Dancer (yet)

Y'know, I really would love for her to be a Dancer. Both because A) Despite what some people say about her moves being mostly the same as a Monk, I think SE would be able to do some really creative animations for a Dancer in-game, and B) It would guarantee being able to wear that lovely outfit.

But to me, watching and rewatching the teaser, the single greatest piece of evidence that she's still a Monk is this. After her initial engagement, when the two face off to begin their spar, they take the exact same ready stance. I disagree with a lot of people going "Oh that's totally Meditation" or "Fists of Wind", or whatever other Monk technique they ascribe her motions to be. But that her opening stance is the same totally screams of using the same martial art as the obvious WoL Monk.

Thats what I said on the last page. They are fking evil and wanted people to start a war here about that chick. She's most likely going to be a monk npc you follow around since the plotline is pretty much monk's story. Just like this one was Dragoon's story. But I may be wrong, but I just don't want a wannabe monk trying to say they aren't monk cause of 2 to 3 different moves when those moves could've been given to monks.

it is doing good things for the devs by keeping the hype train rolling by our own doing, people are talking about stormblood, so of course they won't correct us until we have all of the information.

We're all just going to have to wait until a future Fan Fest to know for sure. If they announce two more Jobs, and neither are Dancers, then that's that.
If Dancer is a confirmed job, then we'll keep seeing speculation on if the girl in the trailer is one or not up until the point of her being a Monk is hammered in in the story.

I rather they clear it up as then this debate can stop and we can move on to other things we will be getting. But I was never a speculation kindof guy as I just want hard cold fat facts. That said, I agree with ZhaneX. I think this was very carefully planned to have us talking about it, and to keep us debating. That helps keep the hype alive until the next FanFest.

They are similar due to the way combat works in this game, not because they attack the same. In the trailer she is literally matching the wol blow for blow. The only time you see that in 99% of anything is to show two of the same art but different motivations go at it. In most cases anyway, Like Sonic and Shadow, Ken and Ryu, the list goes on. But lets say she is a dancer.. using punches and kicks...... that looks like what a monk can do... why not give that to a monk? Why copy so much of it to where people would even mistake it to be a monk? Noone mistakes a ninja for a monk, nor a dragoon? No one mistakes a DRK to a warrior. You can make these things stand out while being the same role or whatever. WE just have VERY little information to go on and that's on purpose. But the fact we are even having this debate in the first place is cause whatever she is.. it's too close to monk to the point she looks like one. And just going off that, she would be a crappy class and a waste of resources if she is a different class cause she looks like a monk. And I only say that as people are mistaking her for one.

I really don't understand this either, honestly. I have no problem with speculation and yes, it can be fun, but...

I legit fail to see what it is that even makes anyone think that the lady in red is a dancer? Beyond the outfit. When I first watched the trailer, for literally 2 or 3 seconds, I thought, oh, could this be a dancer?

But that went away as SOON as the camera began to zoom in, and we got a decent look at her. And this is why I don't get all this "could be a dancer!!!" fervor: there is absolutely nothing that she does - no single attack, movement, form, anything - that says "This is a dancer. This is NOT an East Asian-style martial artist".

We may yet get dancer. I don't think it's impossible, but the woman in the trailer is in no way confirmation of the class coming to XIV. If we DO get a dancer class, I'd be surprised if it looked/played/felt that similar to Monk, anyway. I'd figure we get something that has far less focus (if any) on hard strikes, and more on pure movement. Of course, we also don't know if it will be DPS or healer (or even tank! In theory we don't know WHAT it will be, but I do find tank less likely).

Though that is another thing I've seen that I don't get: assumptions that some people seem to have that DNC (or RDM or SAM, for that matter) absolutely will be a certain role. Or that if it ISN'T that person's role of choice, then that's the final straw and they will be quitting the game. I mean, really? You've been playing this game for this long, but if RDM is a tank or DNC is a DPS or (whatever class/role combination it is you don't like), then that's it, you're out? Okay then.
