    Warrior of Lights.... Storyline... (3.3 - 3.4 Spoilers.)

    Something is really confusing me about the Warrior of Lights storyline. Not the character we play in the game but the actual Warrior running around with a Great Axe; and his four party members.

    Timeline
    ~~~~~~
    1.0 Final Fantasy XIV
    Opening: Warrior of Light is an Archer doing Guildleves with others adventurers. Fighting a Malboro alongside his other four party members (who eventually become his static group.)
    2.0 Realm Reborn
    Opening: The Warrior of Light (literally a Warrior now) and his companions (a PLD Roeg, BRD Miqote, BLM Elvaan, WHM Lala) stand no chance against Bahamut and are transported by Louisoiux(sp) to the Reborned Realm of Eorzea and continue adventuring in a new era.
    3.0 Heavensward
    Opening: The Warrior of Light flees Uldah, becomes an Ishgardian refugee, and changes his job from Warrior to Dragoon.
    3.3 - 3.4 - This is the messed up part
    MSQ: The Warrior of Light, and his entire party, are added to the Main Scenario Questline of FFXIV. Now they have become Warriors of Darkness, who have arrived from a different world / dimension. You find out the five of them died trying to save their own world from being destroyed by Light.
    4.0 Stormblood
    Teaser Trailer: Warrior of Light is.. very much alive again.. and has now changed jobs from Warrior to Monk...
    So, it was my understanding that the Warrior portrayed in all of these cinematics is the actual Warrior of Darkness we end up fighting with our own character. All four of his party members are exactly the same one's from the original 2.0 opening. However, since he's now appearing in the 4.0 trailer, I can only assume he somehow becomes a "Dues Ex Machinist" in 3.5 and brings himself back to life.
    Or.. maybe he just Returned to his Home Point in Little Ala Mhigo...
    No, the Warrior of Light in the trailers has always been the player stand-in.
    This is how I interpreted things, 2.0 opening cinematic: this is the warrior of light that eventually becomes the warrior of darkness, as he was already established as a warrior of light when we were just and unknown adventurer arriving in eorzea. 3.0 and 4.0 this is a stand in warrior of light representing our characters in events we actually went through in game hense why you don't see the archer, paladin, white mage and black mage in the trailer.
    TL;DR 2.0 opening is the eventual warrior of darkness everything after that is us.
    There's your answer. They're not the same people. Or rather, they're the same person from an alternate world.
    He is not truly fighting there as a archer, he was sitting with his other two companions in the adventure guilde and by looking at the card he was having a echo vision. There he was taking part as a archer but in the end he truly was not really there. (Its a little strange). Sometimes later he found those people and they get together as a group. They fight against Bahamut and are transported by the spell into the future. We have no idea what happens with the rest of the group. Maybe they were just written out because in ARR we are only one WoL not a group. But overall the derplander was always supposed to be us. In all the trailers he always went through the things that we later went through.
    They kinda just used the old groups look for the WoD but these are different people. They come from a different world and they kinda have a little bit different colors in their clothes. Still it would have probably be way less confusing if they had just used someone else.
    So the WoL in the trailer is us and thus different from WoD. Thats why he is still alive in the Stormblood trailer since he is us. The WoD and his group are gone for now. We dont know if they come back later or not but they are not here anymore.
    Maybe thats the reason why the WoL looks so much different in this teaser trailer. Maybe they understood that they created too much chaos by having both the WoL and the WoD look so much alike..But in the end until we know more you can be sure that the trailer always shows us and that the group at the end of era trailer is not the WoD.
    No, the warrior of light in the cutscenes is YOU. It's just a stand-in, like the default Commander Shepard from the trailers for Mass Effect, or the Fus-Ro-Da guy from the Skyrim trailers. The warriors of darkness in the MSQ had to be SOMEONE, and since the warrior of darkness wasn't an alternative version of YOU (he was just another adventurer, he isn't your alternate world counterpart), they decided to give a shout-out to cutscene-guy and give them the same appearance. They aren't actually the same person.
