How Do I Claim An Achievement Award?

So I got the achievement "The Leader of the Band I" and it tells me I get a Roll reward but for the life of me I don't see HOW!

It's not in my inventory, I can click the icon in the Achievement panel but there are only "Search" and "Link" menu options and I can't drag it anywhere.

I'm at a loss to understand how I'm supposed to access it, can someone please educate me.

To get rewards for achievements, you "share" them with Jonathas at Old Gridania ( 10.6 , 6.3 )

Yup, exactly what Mango said. Jonathas is retired and likes to hear stories about from adventurers. Stop by and share a story, and he just might have a present for you! (In other words, any achievement youve cleared that gives an item comes from him)

Er, okay, was I supposed to know this .. by which I mean did the game give me any clue about this NPC's existence .. because if so I'd totally forgotten about him.

    Many thanks.

If you click the System icon to bottom right then select "active help" then "achievements", it's mentioned there on the second page of the tip. So I imagine it must've appeared the first time you got an achievement and popped up as a game tip/help. It's easy to forget/not notice, I forgot till I read about it at random.

    Thanks for your understanding.

It's a pretty obscure in-game notification, given that the Active Help tip comes up the first time you complete any achievement, and chances are it's a long time later before you complete any that give a reward, so the part about Jonathas is useless when presented and hard to find when it actually becomes meaningful. (Really, a single sentence at the end of a help window that you'd seen once, probably months earlier in most cases... Who would remember it from that?)

I'm pretty sure most of us learned the answer from threads like this one rather than in-game from that Active Help tip. A few people randomly happened to talk to him when they were eligible to get items and then realized there had been achievements earlier that were supposed to give those. So they posted about it and it spread by word of mouth through the forums and other fan sites.

Yes, similar story for me. I looked up the reward for an achievement on Lodestone, then did a web search for where to obtain the reward.
After speaking to Jonathas again, it triggered the distant memory that, hey I spoke to this guy a long time ago for a Title or something else trivial.
Now, I just go speak to him after I have collected a bunch of achievements with rewards. He is just too out of the way for my liking. You would think, a guy wanting to hear a story would be at the inn. Nothing like hearing a tale over a flagon of ale.
