I don't think thats possible, you either make a non-enhanced item with a colour, or a enhanced item during the synthesis process. (at least until 2.0)
What I wana know is the enhancment caused by adding a dye during the synthesis process ? or is it a seperate item, can I make:-
A green robe with + magic att
A red robe with + magic att
or are they still defined by the dye which you are using ?
What if I want a Purple felt robe with + magic att ? or do I just have to settle with the choice of:-
A Red felt robe + magic att
or
A purple felt robe with no enhancment.
Personally I think they should have just made all items standard non-enhanced and dyable to any colour and left the stat allocation to materia, they are making this dye system way more complicated than it needs to be and more importantly how many items will this create from a database point of view ? (remember Yoshi-p said he wanted to add 24-32 different colours eventually)

Assuming that the whole point is for players to choose what color they want to wear, gear stats won't be defined by color anymore. So the synth will go:I don't think thats possible, you either make a non-enhanced item with a colour, or a enhanced item during the synthesis process. (at least until 2.0)

Regular robe synth (no color) -> +etc stat robe synth (no color) -> add color so you can pimp
As far as I can tell there won't be any color restrictions, so you can have your cake and eat it too, so to speak.
That would be interesting, but think of the combination on the AH for a moment o.oAssuming that the whole point is for players to choose what color they want to wear, gear stats won't be defined by color anymore. So the synth will go:

Say there are 6 different stat robes, mnd, int, magic att, healing, pie & MP, now each one of those can be died 24 different colours. 144 different database entries + 24 robes with no stat but just different colour.
That's 168 possible variations on the AH and not even taking into account the materia system.
I just hope they have a robust naming system set up so that I can type Astute Felt Robe and it will bring back all the colour/materia combinations for that type of robe, its still guna be a lot to search through.

Okay wait we only have 9 existing dyes xDThat would be interesting, but think of the combination on the AH for a moment o.o

Felt Robe for example: 3 types currently: red, green, and un-dyed. 9 possible colors. So that makes 27 different pieces of gear. Even in your example, with the 6 robes, we'd be at 54 different items total. Still a lot, but not quite 144, hahah. And gear with materia on it doesn't list differently than its counterparts at the moment anyways. But anyways agreed, it might get a little daunting to have to sift through 54 items all marked, 'Felt Robe (color)', or worse, 'Felt Robe (stat) (color)'.
Oh sorry I was getting ahead of myself, Yoshi said he wants to add 24-32 different dyes to the game eventually.
But yea I guess I shouldn't be talking about that seeing as currently we only have 9 dyes. my bad :P
I think in 1.20 they planned for materia and HQ items to be to be listed seperately, maybe its planned for 1.21 though.
If dyes are really as easy to add as they seem to want, the AH/wards should automatically convert all items to an undyed state. You can easily add some lore for the reason. This would also make supply much more stable and consistent.
Please rate up my post at #6 about the naming conventions.

I don't think colour should have any effect on stats at all, IMO keep it as simple as can be, if they want to add further customisation they should have an enchanting system to compliment the dying system.
And as gahoo said above both could be removed before putting on the AH.
Edit:- This post was in response to the above post, but is still kind of relevant LOL

I hope in 1.2 we will be able to use ALL of the base colors for ALL of the items and not just the colors currently restricted to each item currently in place minus stats post patch. (ie. a lot of the new recipes currently only have 1-3 color options) There was no mention to this fact in either direction so it makes me worry... I don't want to have to wait until 1.21 or beyond to have full color choices available![]()
I would say the prices for dyed equips are now falling until 1.20
Trade: Woolen Cowl (red) for Woolen Cowl
