Perhaps a hagoromo could be nice...

Probably just be a much much harder 72 hour fate or hunt type thing where we can all zerg it down to get loot, since more than 18 people can attack a mob in this game.
At most you will need to actual know the mechanics and come with a party to live, but if it's open world everyone is gonna have a chance at the loot. So really wouldn't worry about it. And we already have some fates that are 36-48 timers, odin/ultima/coregula. Not much difference
Disappointing that they don't care about Western audiences enough to give us even one non-cute race.
Interested in learning more about Ala Mhigo. That and the inventory expansion are pretty much the two things I'm looking forward to at this point.
Oh and dropping PS3 support, as that means they won't have the stupid "not enough memory" excuse to fall back on.
Ew? xD

Indeed, so because one audience doesn't care much no audience should get them? But it's not surprising really, they barely even listen to other audiences anyway; usually only bringing them up when they have something to sell them, or when to blame for certain stuff the listened to audience complains about.
Don't worry, a new limitation, restriction, issue, etc. will show up before long.
[as a promise to myself this shall be the only negative post I make today]
They haven't announed any new race, neither cute nor uncute. So what's the fuss about?Indeed, so because one audience doesn't care much no audience should get them? Also, it's a well known fact that Roes and Highlanders are a notable minority, especially the former. Are people seriously mad that SE doesn't release yet another race that very few people will play? How does this even work from a logical point of view?
That's like saying:"It's a well known fact Gnomes and Goblins are a notable minority, so Lalafell could never be popular." MEANWHILE...
How does "that" work from a logical point of view...?
I'd like to point out that my annoyance is aimed at the "because Japan don't like them" and not the fact there's not an "ugly" race being added. They haven't announed any new race, neither cute nor uncute. So what's the fuss about?

And as for the "ugly" being played, I think the most revolting and silly thing gets played quite a lot, and that is male Au Ra, so people will play ugly things mostly from a male characters side. Not that I give a damn about ugly or otherwise races being added, I am eternally staying Miqo'te.
Have you considered not enough NA audiences like "ugly" races either? They may have specified JP but that doesn't necessarily mean NA/EU likes them much either. Personally, I almost always avoid overly beast centric races in games because I don't find that aesthetic appealing. So if presented with the option, I'll vote against something akin to beast tribe looks. Granted, I don't want any new races as I'd rather more customization for the existing ones.Disappointing that they don't care about Western audiences enough to give us even one non-cute race.

I keep seeing people saying this zone is akin to something from FFXI. I never played XI, were relics able to be completed without having to do this stuff?
Relics were a major pain in the ass. You went into zones called Dynamis which were alternate reality replicas of other zones, including the starter cities, but they took place in a reality where the evil forces had won the Great War. The zones were filled with beastmen. They were incredibly strong and most linkshells took a full alliance or more of 18 people in to topple the zone. It was instanced and there were various NMs which you could kill that would drop relic armor. Everything would also drop beastmen currency in values of 1 or rarely 100 and you needed an absolute metric ton of beastmen currency to build a relic. I know the last step alone required 10,000 or so and there were 4-5 steps if I remember right. You also had to get certain drops from high level spawned monsters in certain Dynamis zones. Most linkshells never built even 1 relic for anyone, while there are others which managed to build several for different people.
The payoff of all this, though, was that while a relic took literal years to acquire, they were the top of the top weapons for the better part of a decade (or longer if you continued to upgrade them). They radically changed the capabilities of some classes (for example Dark Knight was a heavy DPS with paper thin defense. Relic DRKs would tank high end encounters) and you would easily use a relic for several years without having to worry about any other weapons.
