Frontlines should give PvE reward for the best GC

It should be reset each week. The GC that wins the most frontline matches should have every member of that GC be rewarded with things like EXP buff, Equipment durability buff, etc. This may give incentive for people to do PvP to try win more matches.

It may also give people incentive to just watch where the PvP premades go and switch along with them to get free buffs instead.

That's possible, but it would still be tricky to know which GC is in the lead. Pre-mades stack the deck, but it's not like they're unbeatable and they don't always play the majority of the weekly matches. SE also doesn't provide a way for us to monitor current matches or specific players, so we have no way of knowing who is active or when. You could swap GC's to chase a pre-made (which people already do), but you'd still be rolling the dice on the weekly result.

Regardless, they could get around this problem by splitting rewards between personal incentives as well as FC incentives. If some of the rewards were tied to our FC's alliance, then it wouldn't matter how much we swapped around on a personal level. We'd be locked out of those rewards by the end of the week.

Another option is that they could lock your GC allegiance at the start of the week. That way, if you start as a Flame but swap to Adders or Mael by the end because they're winning, you'll still be considered a Flame when the rewards are handed out.

OR, yet another option is to make it based on your majority matches played for that week. If you played the majority as a Flame, then you're a Flame for the rewards, even if you swapped to something else by the end. If you played the majority as an Adder, then you're an Adder by the end, even if you swapped to something else. Chasing a specific Pre-made or trying to follow the leading GC wouldn't work, because you wouldn't actually be considered one of them unless you played the majority of your matches as one of them.

Regardless, there's a lot of ways they could make this work if they chose to. Personally, I'd rather see GC restrictions go the way of the dodo. I hate them and what they do to PvP queues, and I firmly believe that any relation GC's have to PvP should be strictly in the background, but if SE wanted to make this happen there are ways that they could do it without making it a total crap shoot.

There should not be any PvE rewards associated with PvP. Doesn't make any sense at all to give rewards like that when it doesn't even affect PvP.

That would be a really neat feature. Frontline has its own rankings on the website, it would be neat if those were tied to actual rewards like The Feast is.

I disagree. They just need to get rid of GC restrictions period. That's why wait times are horrendous.

It seems like 8vs8 feast is a good example disproving this. It just requires 16 people (any job, any GC), but it won't pop at all for hours if you queue it. Whether it's the horrible job balance or the already dead queues, nobody new is trying PvP and getting interested

It's harder to learn pvp Imo in Feast in general, because there's a lot of focus and its in an enclosed area. FL is more open and less of a chance that you're getting focused unless 1) you're in the actual front of the battle or a healer, 2) you're alone and get ganked, 3) you're a battle high or battle fever and they're burning you down. FL definitely gives people more flexibility to learn pvp at their own pace or watch more experienced players duke it out. Nobody queues for 8v8 unless it's something set up via LS or pvp thread. If they got rid of GC restrictions I feel more people would q for FL because then it wouldn't be dependent on one GC lacking members to fill for a q.

    Really?

On Primal, I've been getting non-stop 8v8 queues since 3.4 went live with an average wait time of about 5-10 minutes. The absolute longest queue I've had during peak times is maybe 15 minutes, which is still faster than most Dps queue. If I'm not mistaken, Lamia is also on Primal, so I wonder why you can't get in after "hours" of waiting. Seems rather strange considering I've seen pretty healthy queues since the last patch.

PvP queues seem strongly affected by time of day, while PvE queues are basically evenly-distributed.

My login time is usually morning/afternoon NA PST. I can queue for any PvE anything at times ranging from 0600 to 1300 to 2300 to anything in-between, and it will always pop in roughly the same amount of time based on content and job role.

But I often sit in 8v8 queue of 4-5 hours (solid, with no pops, ever) if I have other things to do outside Eorzea (ie, I don't need to party for anything and can afford to just let the queue tick in the vain hope it pops). It just... doesn't pop. Ever. By comparison, even Frontline does pop, maybe every 60-120 minutes.
