Margaret Moonlight also uses a scythe with a sniper rifle. Though I think the concept itself might not meld well with FF14, it is a fun idea.

Not jobs/classes or roles but weapons.

Not to nitpick, but adding new weapon types is pretty much equivalent to adding new jobs/classes.

The game USED to allow classes to wield multiple weapon types, but SE has been moving away from that with great gusto. I very much doubt they plan to move back. For example. GLD/PLD used to use both daggers and swords. CNJ/WHM used to use both wands and staves. Daggers have been removed completely from GLD/PLD's arsenal, and no new wands have been made in years. Anyone hoping to see MRD/WARs with warhammers are doomed to disappointment, however cool that might sound.

For the record, though, I'd love to see a whip-wielding job added!

I'm okay with this though, because it would be logical to force the damage type to blunt, and also, it gives us a chance to have a job that uses big blunt force weapons!
