    It's an old story called the emperor's new clothes. Two con men basically sell an emperor nothing and tell him it's an amazing new robe, the emperor didn't want to look stupid so he says he can see it and it's amazing so he buys it and wears it in public (goes out naked) no one wants to question the emperor so everyone pretends he's wearing the amazing robe. It's not until a child sees him and laughs that everyone realises how ridiculous it all is.
