Why people vote abandon / quit quasi-successful groups?

I've seen it happen so many times I can barely count. Groups that achieve very good results on the first or second try, and then just DISBAND for no reason.

Like, yesterday I had a group go on A12 and get the boss at 17%, only to have both tanks and a healer leave afterwards. Then, another got it to 40% on the first try, then 75, then 25, then 4 (FOUR!!!) and then disbanded. Only to have the next group have a much worse performance than the one that broke apart.

I've also seen similar situations on previous patches, on fights like Niddhog, A4, and even stuff from the previous expansion. What IS with this people? Why quit a group with a steady progression, get a 30-min timeout and then queue up again for a WORSE group?

You don't get the timeout if you vote abandon, that's why people do it. They want their instant grats, and if it's a tank or a healer trying to vote abandon they have an instant queue anyway, so they don't need to care.

Also there's a topic about this exact thing still on the front page. Not sure why you made a new one.

Pretty sure it's down to rage quitting. "The boss was at 4%, for fuck sake!' /leavegroup

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

I think Lokier's answer is the most accurate for the most groups lol. Instant gratification isn't really granted by...well, dropping the group you nearly won with and gambling a group that might not be able to get that far.

The topics are not about the same issue. The other topic is about the vote abandoning exclusively, whether it should exist or if discontent people should just endure their 30-min timer.

I'm talking about another issue entirely - Mainly, people who either vote abandon or just plainly /leave groups with a solid progression, or that almost killed the boss in the last try. And I'm talking about bosses who are/were at the time of release in the upper tier difficulty tier of DF content, who cannot be realistically expected to always be cleared on the first try, at least not until the servers as a whole get more equipment and experience on the fight. Examples are A12, Final Steps of Faith, and I've also seen it on some primal Ex learning/clear PF groups.

Exactly why this is so ridiculous. An A12 group who just got the boss to 4% have MUCH more odds of clearing than most, ATM. While we don't have official data on that, it really seems, from the comments i've been picking up, that it's a minority of groups that are actually getting a clear there. Of course this will possibly change in the next weeks as people gear up, but at THIS TIME it's very unrealistic to expect that every Alex DF group will be a hit-and-run thing.

This right here. Welcome to the majority of the snowflake generation, AKA Millennials. You see the same type of behavior play out in real world scenarios everyday if you're out working around people enough.

Call me a snowflake if you want, but I will leave after realizing that we are wiping thanks to our level 50 Lancer and his buddies who won't kick him.

But would you leave after the first try getting Alexander Prime at 17%?
