I wonder
Now that we know that the thirteenth reflection is the Void, and we're generally dealing with alternate realities, could we possibly see a "dark/void" reflection of NPC's our PC has known and loved?

The inhabitants of the 13th were corrupted by darkness and became the voidsent that now populate the void so we likely won't be meeting anyone recognisable there. It would appear the shard worlds aren't exact reflections anyway; they clearly have their own unique peoples and histories as evidenced by the WoDs. They were probably reflections of the Source at the moment they were all created but have since diverged dramatically.

yea, I agree with you, fanfest cleared up a lot of things with the parallel worlds and the WOD ( devout and whitemage, etc etc)..
I have no other wacky theories.

The singing shards quest seem to be another sign that the main character has something "off" about them, that there is something abnormal about their powers, or both. I'm not sure what else to call it when your memories are so messed up they start enchanting items with detectable sorrow and the death of others.

Well they are moments of conflict. From the loser's side of things it would be a nightmarish and terrible experience. God knows there would be groups out there we have fought who would see us as a terrible villain. The singing shards quest seem to be another sign that the main character has something "off" about them, that there is something abnormal about their powers, or both. Lets not mince words here. In most of those dungeons we are killing people.
