Crazy yet somewhat plausible theories... Thread

So... Shitty, crazy, almost plausible theories...

i wanna hear 'em from y'all

So about the first verse of the Sophia theme.
I have my interpretation of it which i'd like to share

The song of the shifting sea,
We are by the sea. So good so far.

The kiss of the salt-sweet breeze,
    Again, its the sea...

The warmth of her silken dress,
Now this is where my new idea lies, what else do we know that is soft and warm and often found by the sea? Sunlight!

    Stained in red...
    Its a sunset! or sunrise.

Who else is godly, sun associated, and a goddess?

    Azeyma

But now you say: But Enur, Sephi was azeyma's inspiration not sophi

Correct! i answer But, what if the whole triad was based on Azeyma.

A snippet of Azeymas Gamerescape entry:
She is most often depicted as a noble lady holding a golden fan. Her symbol is the radiant sun, and may have a connection to truth as a whole, as she is said to console all who would confess to their crimes.

So Azeyma is a god who deals with justice. Equality.

    Equilibrium.

And where have we seen such a thing? Ul'dah!

And Bela'dia... which was built upon mysterious ruins.... Which have cat statues...

Miqo'te are from meracydia. Sophia was from meracydia.

You see where im going with this? have i found something? Will Zurvan be based on the sun god aswell? Am i crazy for seeing the correlation?

    Based on this:

As can be seen from existing Allagan artifacts (runestones (from 1.0) inscribed with the symbols of the Twelve), Twelve worship existed in the 3rd Astral Era (before eventually losing steam amongst the Allagans as their civilization became increasingly scientifically advanced). When the Allagans first visited Meracydia, they were surprised to find a symbol almost identical to that used for Azeyma, the Warden being prominently featured in various types of architecture. Further research, however, revealed that the Meracydians they encountered did not worship Azeyma, but instead a deity named Sephirot, the Fiend, and that the symbol was being used to mean something similar, but ultimately different.

I am starting to think that Meracydians (beast tribes and man) believed in a Sun deity who may have been Azeyma but has changed to be something different as time passed on in Meracydia. So I suppose Zurvan could represent a different aspect of Her?

Who knows? Maybe both Sephirot and Sophia were both talk about Azeyma in their lyrics?

Hopefully somebody asks them the question in Fanfest

Is the place where people just go crazy? Well... your self-styled detective is here if you would indulge him after all the flak he gives everyone else. I need to do this, lest I lose the opportunity to say "Well, I sure hope someone picks up that phone." like I did with not saying that Zodiark is the moon.

    1. Ilberd is the Griffin
-I'm not looking at hacked models. His MO and personality fit Ilberd's situation, though.

    2. Ilberd The Griffin will be, ironically, what mends our hostile relationship with Garlemald
-He's gonna get Omega up and running with Nidhogg's eyes and force us to work with Garlemald to take it down. Relations will improve (or at least hostilities will cease) as a result.

    3. The Twelve are based on the Ascians
-If I remember right, there was a legend that an old incarnation of Rhalgr, or a Warrior of Light from a bygone era, eventually joined the Ascians. Maybe people had it the other way around; time tends to distort history. Perhaps, back when light and dark were in harmony, mortals walked alongside the Ascians, but Zodiark's seizing of power and Hydaelyn's subsequent banishment of Him, along with Her use of us as tools to keep Him locked away and the world in a state that "should not be," they now despise us instead. They're largely unseen in history, and so history has distorted their memory into the Twelve - our deities. "Knowledge colors expectation, and expectation colors perception" - we have forgotten their true forms, their status as "deities," and so created deities to give their abilities to. 12 gods, 12 Ascians... hmm.

    Absolutely crazy!

    4. Midgardsormr can't die because his aether is too alien to fully integrate into Hydaelyn's lifestream
-Like a voidsent. This explains the First Brood's infamous durability, but having been born and raised on Hydaelyn, they've integrated enough of Her aether to be vulnerable to death - it just takes a damn lot. Remember: the aether of dead things returns to the land, and if Midgardsormr's can't... well. Or maybe it's just a part of his pact with Hydaelyn.

My SAN would have to be eroded to say much more, because I'm very logical and dispassionate.

I believe this may be a clue or hint as to what the twelve actually are, or were, in this case.

Remember the Azim steppe in othard

So azim/azeyma appears from Othard to Meracydia. Quite perculiar that no other "twelve" has similar references.

Makes me wonder what part of the puzzle we're missing.

I dunno; I think there's a case to be made for plenty of connections between Azeyma and Sophia.

I mean, down to the red horns.

Granted I'm not overly familiar with the Sophia being invoked (who varies quite a bit over time), so the references might be more obvious.

I'm less certain about the idea that Sophia came first, though. If Eorzea is as special as everyone in Eorzea seems to think it is (and let's not dismiss the possibility of self-interest biases having an effect on our mythology), then all people and tales might have migrated out of Eorzea to begin with. The "seeds of faith" that led to Azeyma / Azim / Sophia might all have progenitors in an Eorzea during the Age of the Gods / Prehistory. We know too little about the age before the First Umbral Calamity to be too sure about anything.

This one might be a little boring and yet probably too crazy (but still will be my head cannon till the story tells me otherwise):

We are a direct daughter/son of Hydaelyn.

She calls us beloved daughter/son more than once I believe and we also seems to not have any kind of family in the world, or at least we seem to not care much about our own past.(I know this was probably because they wanted to give us the chance to write our own story) And to make it even better our daddy is Zodiark. *insert Star Wars reference here*

In the end we will be the balance that the world needs because we have both sides in us and thus we can use both the Crystal of Lights and Darkness. [Or we will just use our puppy eyes on daddy!Zodiark to convince him that balance is great and that he should make up with mom!Hydaelyn]

At least the part with being a direct creation of Hydaelyn would make a little sense, the rest is probably pure nonsense. (But kinda funny imo)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I'm less certain about the idea that Sophia came first
I apologize, i never intended to imply that.
It still bugs me that the only god we have any connection with outside of "the Twelve" is Azeyma. Wasnt there also a church of azeyma in 1.0? with a single Roe in Drybone advocating for it today.

Welp, time for an even flimsier theori:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ala Mhigo, Highlanders and Mhach. I know i already shared an incomplete version in ages past. I have now completed it

So on the topic of highlanders we know that they are from Ala Mhigo and that they came in the first Hyuran Invasion.

We also know that Royal Allagans were eerily similar to midlander hyurs save for eye colour.

I believe that Highlanders and Lalafells lived together in Mhach during the war of the magi, and that soon after the calamity flooded the world, the remnants split into two groups:

    The Magi and the Destroyers.

We know that Ala Mhigans got a new irish/welsh (im bad at recognizing accents) accent in HW
The void ark and weeping have bosses from irish mythology; Forgall, Chuchulainn, Scathach
Highlander statues in Mhach, possibly depicting Rhalgr due to meteor in hand.
Rhalgr is often depicted as a mage weilding a bronze staff
Rhalgr was the deity of Ala Mhigo
    Ala Mhigo = Allag Mhach?!

What if, after the flood, the lalafells of Mhach (name dropped: Shattoto in the city, possibly lalafell name) realized that excessive use of magic was bad and went south into thanalan and founded Belah'dia. Also found the original ruins of qarn and adopted the idea of balancing knowledge and power because they know what happens when magic is abused (Ozma happens. and noone wants living nukes)

The highlanders on the otherhand moved east, into the shroud. They forgot the magely ways due to lack of organized society (and intelligence, Highlander scores lowest on that stat) but kept their Deity, A destroyer. A mage. Their bodies could still have been used to the high aether levels in Mhach (One could assume a city of mages use lots of it.). What if they trained their bodies to absorb the aether from the land and go for a more martial society?

Then the Highlanders found Ultima Weapons lair. They had trained their bodies to absorb aether and now they had plenty. Their soldiers, lancers, Monks, became the toughest foes in the land granting them military supremacy just until the Autumn war, were the combined forces of Gridania and ishgard defeated them.

There is a connection im sure of it. And the final piece lies in Mhach part 3

The next tank class will be Viking as a surprise. They will playfully crush enemies by dual-wielding shields and pull out hammers for pull moves and finishers. Mjolnir is a necessity.

The user /u/drolra on the FFXIV subreddit just posted a jokey comment about Krile, Calofisteri and Sophia, the magical orbs they all hold, and how this is surely a hint at the introduction of Blitzball in the next expansion. But it actually got me thinking....

What if there is a connection between the ancient Crystal of Light that was in Matoya's keeping, and the shiny rocks held by these magical giant women? A wish-granting stone, and a stone that negates voidsent — is it beyond the realm of possibility that these could be Crystals of Light?

This line of thought is curtailed fairly quickly by the fact that the Cintamani seemed to dissipate along with Sophia herself when we vanquished her, but it could always just have been a summoning based on a legend of a Crystal. It also occurs to me that a Crystal of Light's supply of aether might negate the need to draw aether from the [surrounding environment/Allagan aether-supply mechanisms] and something like that would probably be somehow noticed by our team of Scions (or the Allagans), but on the other hand we don't really know if the Warring Triad even consume much aether while dormant. We also don't know whether a Crystal of Light's power is infinite, or how easy it is to access, or... much of anything, about them, really. When the Warriors of Darkness were going to use their Crystals of Light to escape, I somehow got the impression that they were going to spend them, or partially spend them. What are the Crystals of Light?

Of, course, this is all probably a very stupid idea. But I guess a thread about "crazy theories" is the best place it could possibly go!

    EDIT: character limit

And from the same reddit thread, here are a couple of suggestions which aren't that crazy, and are actually quite plausible:
