Name Change is a different option. Phantasia doesn't do that.

So you want to delete one character to free a name, then rename a second character to that name?

BTW I have to ask, why don't you use a Fantasia, it seems like less of a hassle than deleing your charatcer, losing certain event items that you will never get back (like the Yo-Kai weapons/minions) and going thought the MSQ from the very beginning again
