To add to this, I've fallen asleep mid queue more than once >.>;;

Trial roulette as a dps is extremely quick, so if they withdraw it won't hurt them. Be glad it's dps withdrawing and not the tanks

It's not uncommon to go run FATEs while waiting in the interminable DPS queues, and not necessarily doing them on the job registered for the DF. You're not allowed to change jobs while you've got aggro and sometimes running far enough away from FATE mobs to drop hate takes a while. Especially if you're in a zone with native mobs with aggro for that level. I can't tell you how many times I've been trying my damnedest to get away from the FATE to barely get changed in time to accept the duty.
People also craft a fair amount while waiting things out and then have to weigh the costs of abandoning a potentially pricey craft or taking a strike for ditching out of queue.

I swear to god that that queue NEVER pops until I step away from the monitor to go to the bathroom. As soon as I do? BAM HERE'S YOUR DUNGEON LOL

Remember that while you queued through the roulette, not everyone in your party did, that one person withdrawing could have queued to the duty directly and could have been waiting for a long time.
Solo queueing for some obscure trial like ultros or big keep is gonna make you wait until the roulette is done filling every other duty that has been waiting for fillers, and that can take well past 20 minutes depending on the time.
Back when I was playing on my old, crappy laptop the queues would never pop for me until I changed locations. It would take forever to load into a new zone, and for whatever reason even longer when I was in a queue. So of course the moment I would decide to risk it and go somewhere it's pop on me and maybe 1/3 of the time would I load in quick enough to catch it, lol.
I don't get the "DPS queue are longer", these days, everytime i queue as DPS the dungeon pops within 5min oO (except for things like 24 men raid).
Sometimes i even spend more time in the queue as a healer ^^"
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

It depends on where and what you queue of course, but I typically have between 15 and 8 minute wait for things like expert/60s roulette, about 8-5 minutes for things like Alexander and get the occasional insta-pop for 24 man raids. 24 man raid aside, I can half the queue time by queuing as healer instead and pretty much get insta-pops as tank.
Waiting on my ninja alt for the Zeta, (50s) dungeons always take well over 20 minutes. I frequently fill the entire rest of the book in the time it takes me to get into the dungeon, FATE waiting aside. The same applies to dungeons another alt required for the MSQ - copperbell normal in that case. Ironically, the queues are lower when I queue at off hours.

As a DPS i have learned one thing, and that is to do other things while queuing. Most often I level crafts or gatherers via levequests, and if I am in the middle of a levemete sometimes I will not get there in time because I think that if I am just quick enough I might manage to get it done in those 30 sec.
Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.
