    Levelling Ixali/Moogle quests as a non-crafter?

    Morning all,

So I've been levelling my beast quests daily since rolling a new char at the end of July. So far I'm making pretty good progress, with only some Silph and most of the Ixali stuff from 2.0 to go.

Thing is, it hit me today, that as a non-crafter, Ixali and Moogle may well be locked off to be permanently? I mean I can get points from doing Ixali deliverance without levelling my crafts, tedious as that might be, but when it comes to the quests to move up to the next reputation rank, crafting is absolutely required isn't it?

I should probably explain. Time-wise, I'm busy enough trying to get everything levelled and geared on a fresh character this late in the game as it is, without having to worry about levelling up crafts. Each of them is a slow grind in its own right, so it's just not practical, time permitting, and even if it was, I think it'd kill the game for me from a fun-first perspective.

So, my question, in short. Is there any way as a non-crafter to level Ixal and Moogle that I haven't considered? Or should I just accept the fact that these are going to be locked off for me forever and give up on beast tribes altogether?

    Thanks!

No, there is no other way.

I'll say, though, that the first 3 Ixal quests can be done with a very low leveled crafter. Level 5 probably suffices. From there on, you can actually use the Ixal quests to level said crafter, which is the intent behind the tribe.

For Non-crafters Ixali and Moogles are locked out. But by ranking up the Ixali you can easyly level one crafter to 50 and then use him to rank up by the Moogles...
The Ixali are designed to level your crafters from level 1 to 50 and the Moogles from 50 to 60, it would just be natural to use this as your advantage.
Ixali daily quests requireing a Crafter with level 1, 3, 6, 10, 15 and 16, for progression quests you need crafters on same levels like the dailies and a level 18 crafter for the last, but you will probably be higher if you do the dailies by them and all Moogle quests are level 50.
Maybe you have to buy some gear from time to time to make it easier on the way.

Thanks for the replies guys. Complete crafting novice for this game, but I have read in a few places that you really need to level multiple classes for cross-class skills to make them effective at higher levels? That's the main thing putting me off, all the cross-class stuff sounds mandatory rather than optional. If Moogle can be done with a single levelled class I would possibly consider sucking it up and just running through with leatherworker, but if I need to start messing about with all of the others too, that would be a bit of a deal-breaker.

If you want to do star recipes and master books: Yes. The most important ones there are the Weaver 50, Carpenter 50 and Culinary 15 and 37 skills (all but one of which exist to reduce the RNG aspect).
For the quests however, simply overleveling and gearing up suffices. You might need a little luck for some recipes, though, if I recall correctly.

As for moogles in particular: They are very easy, you won't have issues without cross class skills - just update your gear to the stuff the moogle vendor sells ASAP once you get there.

By the time you get moogle quest who would require you to have cross class skills you should outlevel and outgear them by a good junk and the moogle quests can be done without crafting, cause there are mostly 1-3 quests out of the 3 they give you, you just have to travel to places, use mount actions or don't need to HQ the crafts and they have no f**king debuffs as craft requirements like the Ixali. HQ crafts for the moggles are all scaled for level 50 so if you outlevel and outgear them with level 51 it's mostly a cakewalk.

In addition for a small set of the Ixali Quests you need the gatherers, but just at level 1, cause you have to gather special logs/rocks/fishes only available for this quests...but they are doable even on that low level.

Thanks for explaining it all, guess I'll suck it up and add leatherworker to the list of things to do

Would be nice if each beast tribe had a mix of quests perhaps, so players had genuine options.

Many of the Ixal quests lock you out of cross class skills, limit your CP, or other such things, so needing to cross class is not a thing if you're only working on crafting to see these side stories. There are a couple of quests that will require gathering as well, but they can be similarly low level. By the time you're in Heavensward crafting, you can specialize which will give skills comparable to, but generally still worse than, many of the CC skills and the Moogle quests mostly do not need to be HQ so these skills are largely useless there too. The Moogles do not have any quests, that I have seen anyway, that require a gathering class.
If you want to actually get into crafting as anything more than a way to get through these beast tribe quests, yes you'll need to level them all.

This is one mmo I'm keen to continue thinking of as a game rather than as a job, so it'll just be for beast tribe completion methinks

Everything has pretty much already been said but I would just like to add that I am currently doing the Ixali quests as a culinarian and I am incredibly amused at using a frying pan to cook up airship components. XD
