The majority of players DO NOT WANT a wyvern pet for DRG.

Strange as it is to grasp, most of the opposition to wyvern pets has absolutely nothing to do with balancing the job. We oppose the Wyvern because of FF lore. We want a traditional FF dragoon ala Kain or Freya, not the FFXI wyvern gimmick.

When the Beastmaster class/job is added, you pet lovers can have all the Wyvern/Drake/Peiste/Snurble pets you want. But leave DRG as it should be.

No amount of polling, brainstorming, or tweaking is going to change my mind on this, and I'm sure many others are in the same boat.

Fighting along side dragonkin are indeed in FF lore just as fighting against them are. So you can't oppose a wyvern pet because it's not in FF lore, you oppose it because you personally don't want one, which is fine.

It was used as a mount to fly to the emperor and escape. That is all it did.

I guess you learn something new (or old) every day. I finished FFII years ago, but I can barely recall a thing about it - a rather forgettable game and one of the worst in the series IMHO.

Yes, there are exceptions to the DRG lore, just as there is a single exception to the role of Necromancers in the series. But the simple fact is that those are exceptions and not the rule.

The role of the Dragoon was cemented with Kain and reinforced in successive FF games (Tactics included). We've had the wyvern pet in FFXI and that was fine. This is a new game and most FFXIV players want a DRG job in the mold of Kain and Freya.

And it's the majority " " that continue to want to change everything about this game instead of leaving well enough alone because this game isn't like every OTHER MMO. LMFAO That's like IF let's say Beastmaster comes out and some asshat says "I don't think BM should be able to tame goobbue because of this that and whatever" other BS they don't like. LOL

No offense but this statement and mentality ISN'T valid; it's moot. Give real reason other than following the crowd and being a lemming and make a reason and constructive choice rather then jumping off the bridge because everyone else is.

Oh no I HAVE read them which is why I made the statement I made. lol Doesn't seem to matter to ANY of those against a "pet" what other opinions are and reasons why or even the compromises suggested. It's either their way or the highway and it's getting pretty old hearing the constant bitching without any constructive discussion.

Real ones:
Screen clutter
Poor implementation ( control, focusing time/effort on it keeping it alive or up to standards, basically having to function as a pet job )
When it does die losing DoT from its strikes or possible other actions that people want to give it
Balance (I dont care how easy some people say balance is, its childish to glance over it)
FFXIV lore (we will be defending Ishgard from dragons in future content)
+w/e anyone else thinks

I did it as a pet, liked it, want something different
XI didnt have enough in the actual player
Dont wanna have to focus on something that is a gimmick and adds nothing of value
want more draconic themed abilities (lancet, breaths, reis's wind, dragons crest, wyrmkiller, dragonheart)

Ok explain this to me, but I'm pretty sure the XI lore was ALSO that they were Dragon killers so this statement always stumps me as a "reason" not to have it?

As for the other points ok; but also still doesn't offer any other ideas other than NO YOU CANNOT HAZ! O.o
