We're not paying for 2.0. We're paying for 1.x. Even if we all abandon the game and they get nary a sub, 2.0 will come out.

And the earnings losses SE has experienced isn't from XIV alone, 2010 wasn't a good year for the company. The difference between SE and every other company in the world is everyone else listens to their customers from the start, thus avoiding the need to back track and avoid multi-million dollar mistakes.

This attitude I keep seeing that we as consumers owe SE anything is absurd. They released a faulty product. They asked us to stick around. They decided to take two years and rebuild the game. Therefore, they chose to take the most costly route to fix an already costly mistake.

That said, I hope 1.20 is worth it. I'm glad we get to try it out before we pay. But that patch better impress the pants off a lot of people starting with being released in the time frame SE set for itself otherwise the servers will be ghost towns.
