RIP Sadsad Sadsad
Gone, but not forgotten
The tells are dead, now they're doing their rmt business in shout lol. At least my blacklist can be [mostly] clear again
Come to think of it, I haven't seen one since the update... not. one. Praise the Hydaelyn (I just Balmung'd didn't I?)
While the tells have been forced out, don't be surprised to see them start purchasing advertisements on the various FFXIV websites that are not run by Square Enix. They are very motivated to make money and while we have won a major battle, the war goes on.
I think Square will learn a lesson from this along with the Novice Network. I see positive feedback on the Novice Network and that is player managed with GM override available. Same with the new RMT report system, while it has potential for abuse, it primarily relies on player input and discretion to make it successful. I will caveat with the statement that I have no idea what happens when the RMT report is sent...they say it is double checked beofre a modified silence is set up but does that capacity truly exist? Theoretically that could be thousands of reports per hour. Or is it more realistic for Square to come in on the backside to investigate potential abuses??
In the future, the FFXIV community can tackle similar problems by trusting the player base to do the right thing as long as there is an pressure release to catch the few bad apples. I do not pay $15 a month and invest hours of playtime to go around and be a jerk. Probably 98 or 99% are here to do the right thing
I was very happy to finally have noticed improvement hte past couple days! While there wasn't at first, there has definitely been a reduction in RMT tells. Finally!
I don't think they're the same bots, so to speak. The traders using the same bots to farm and spam sounds like a bad plan; they're smarter to just keep the farming on the down low and try not to draw too much attention.
For now, I'd say, one step at a time. Is great to have tells back. And maybe the farm bots can be addressed next. (honestly, they break my immersion way faster than the tells ever did)
So, what actually happened?
Did they implemented a brand new amazing bot detection tech or something?
