Fun. That was the point. Fun. If you were not having fun, then I suggest you reflect on what you have done and apply what you learn on future decisions. If you were having fun, then you have lost nothing.

Fun doesn't let you AFK in from of an aetheryte with an unsheathed weapon to show it off, or lets you do an I-don't-want-it-to-be-obvious (but it really is) shout about how you're relieved because you finally acquired the newest gear. It's best to suffer for about 5-6 days for those 2 hours of digital hype.

Gear and weapons become obsolete in every patch.

Once items are no longer the most powerful, they still can be used for GC exchange, desynthesis, glamor or as transitional gearing for people who haven't reached the latest content yet. So this is the way I would look at the content structure of this game. There's an asterisk after obsolete, where things have lasting value for different purposes.

IT HONESTLY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping that the Heavensward relic quest would require completion of the ARR relic quest to start, but apparently it does not? I'd say just rock the content that doesn't devalue as much over time, like levelling a job from 50-60, or working on your house, building relationships etc etc.

Get some friends or join an FC or even a static that matches your schedule and you can do all that 'grinding' in a day.

I cleared ravana 10 times a year and a half ago which got me all the weapons I wanted and haven't really touched it since, because I don't pug this stuff.

Ravana weapons came out June 2015... Re-released on September 27, 2016.. I think that's long enough. Even worse, they're i180 so obsolete anyway. Dunno what the problem is.

And less than x patches later it can be bought via MB!!!!

It's purely for glamour. As other have said, it's not exactly the same, it's actually only i180 and has a different "glow" effect.

I'd like to add that it's also not something that everyone is just picking up easily off of the ground. The recipe requires a drop from Ravana, so to obtain and crafts the parts yourself you would need to farm the fight. Even if you were to buy the weapon from the MB, it can be quite expensive....not everyone is willing to pay 3M+ for a variant of an existing weapon.

The only thing that makes your weapon obsolete is the fact that it's from old content.
