No thank you. The lack of a proper target system is actually what is turning me off of most action MMOs.

Like the pace of the combat now, without the ftp button mashing that is passed off as 'action combat'.
Stops you getting a little too excited about things:

I guess another reason why action combat would not be good here is the high server latency. It was a huge issue with Blade and Soul and would be even worse here.
We already have issues with Hallowed Ground / Benediction (or even just getting hit by AoE's that we've run out of) due to high latency. Action combat would just be a nightmare.

In before PS3 limitations
How does healing work without tab targeting? Would they get rid of it? Would it be strictly AE-based?
Oooh, shiney...

Mouse targeting abilities in MMORPGs is also a good system too. All they need to do with tab targeting in FFXIV is make it smarter, make it stop focusing in the stuff 50 malms away and target the one in your face.
TERA uses healing and mouse targeting, it is very interesting. best to test it out before you head straight into a dungeon. How does healing work without tab targeting? Would they get rid of it? Would it be strictly AE-based?
Perhaps a compromise where if you're using a MELEE weapon then attacking will automatically lock on to the nearest target. I wouldn't want this kind of feature for healers/ranged characters as the number of bodies in the way would make combat very difficult to execute with percision.

You can write macros for mouse targeting
