Because people already insult me enough for buying HQ crafted gear, do I really need to be insulted further by having proper melds?

In my opinion, the thing is this game which is overrated the most is "GIL".
Before getting another few millions just for doing almost nothing (like desynthing old ilvl. 100 stuff for gold/wolfram ingots and battlecraft III or selling some crafting mats bought from the neverending rain of lore tombstones and gc seals) I rather put that gil into my gear.
Last tier my 3 most played classes had 30-40 materia V's attached to their gear and my money pretty much stagnated (or went slightly up) and I usually don't craft, I'm way to lazy to gather regulary and I don't sell clears. So I don't get that "Money Thing" unless you spent several millions each patch in glamours or housing. The game just throws it at you (shame we don't have "Gil toss" as an cross class ability for all classes.. talking about "buying clears", lol)
I suspect a lot of people simply choose to sell their materia or store it in their retainer's inventories. As it stands there isn't really a major need or incentive to meld materia outside of high end content anyway...and since only a tiny portion of the game's community tackle the aforementioned content...
can't be arsed since the gear I have will be out the window in 3 months and I don't need the extra stats snice I don't do extreme or savage content
Age of War
The gear gets obsolet to quickly to justify melding materia on it, i'd rather sell them for hundred of thousand gils instead :3
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
I can understand not using V's until we can upgrade our gear (I personally don't), but why wouldn't you at least using IV's? The game gives them to you hand-over-fist practically for free, so I dunno what the cost of IV's on the market matters unless you mean to say you'd rather sell them than use them.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Because we can't unmeld without losing the materias.
Because I'm gaining more utility from the money I can make selling the materia than I can make slotting it.
Game economy is set up to shift money from battle-jobs to crafters and from there to gatherers. As someone who hates both crafting and gathering and can't sell Creator Savage runs or something, even as little as 50k would be worth more to me than 12 crit on an item. The only materia I'm even willing to slot is the free T4 materia from beast tribes, because those don't even sell high. And even there...I don't really do that content anymore, so I'd have to go out of my way to get them, which I often don't feel like.
I've met a number of people who've accused me of RMT when I buy the expensive HQ gear (like I just spent to buy most of the crafter i250 gear so my freshly 60 WAR was ready to rock. I can almost guarantee at least one person will try to demonize me for it.
Because clearly RMT is the only way to get a lot of gil. If only there were a system where you can put items that others may want to buy that you can set prices with. Oh wait.
