Fuma Shuriken vs. Raiton?

A fellow ninja in my FC was watching my rotation and he (or she?) told me that if I have Dancing Edge up, I should only use Fuma Shuriken because "it does more damage than Raiton" and "Raiton cuts into Global Cooldown".

So I did some testing.
As for Fuma Shuriken doing more damage than Raiton, I never witnessed it happening, even with Dancing Edge applied. Unless I am reading or doing something wrong, I can't see Fuma Shuriken doing more damage than Raiton.

As for cutting into Global cooldown, yes it does seem to, but by so little. I imagine this is dependent on skill speed. The IL 250 crafted set gives unnecessary skill speed, which could be causing this. With less skill speed, wouldn't this go away?

Does the tiny cut into global cooldown make it worth using Fuma Shuriken over Raiton? Will lower skill speed reduce this problem? (Equipping gear without skill speed.)

Everyone will clip their GCD with Raiton, even JP players. But the damage does mostly offset the mild clip. If ur ping is exceptionally bad like mine (139ms) then Fuma is mostly better because I clip more than half a GCD with Raiton.
When the MCH Hypercharge is live and DE is up, IIRC this is the one scenario where Fuma will straight up do more damage than a Raiton.
Though if Foe's Requiem is up, Raiton will almost always be the DPS gain even with heavy clipping.

It's a tough one. Like CookieMonsta said it can come down to latency. There are situations where you would use 1 over the other.

Raiton > Fuma;
Whenever DE or SE isn't up.
Whenever Foe's Requiem is up.
MCH Hypercharge (Magical vuln)
When you have Kassatsu.
If you don't have poor latency.

Fuma > Raiton;
MCH Hypercharge (Physical vuln)
Poor Latency

That is pretty much it. Raiton always clips slightly into the GCD, but not enough to really dmg your dps Here's hoping it gets changed in the future lol

Cast time, especially with latency issues. Also, Kiss of the Wasp/Viper.

I still don't think the difference is worth over-analyzing too much. Raiton is a safe bet pretty much all the time while Fuma is more situationally strong. As others said, overall performance is somewhat dependant on your latency.
