    Culinarian underwhelming...

Any others finding Cul as a specialist a bit underwhelming lately? Think its just too easy to use the next best foods instead of latest, so the newest stuff isnt ever really in high demand except for hardcore raiders, not to mention they get removed from being specialist recipes the next patch anyway so... yeah... Unfortunately can't really think of anything to improve such either, any thoughts? >.<

Consumables are a pain to craft manually, so older recipes that you can batch craft with macros are more tolerable. Older food like Seafood Stew are more popular. I have sold several stacks of those since the patch was released. The newer 4-star stuff that require specialist to craft is infeasible to mass produce unless you have a lot of time to manually craft.

The beneficial effects of food and potions for battle jobs have always been underwhelming since SE wants to balance them to be weak. On the other hand, crafting food is actually more useful.

Not sure what you're talking about personally, heavensegg soup always sold and still does, and priestly omelette is the best selling food I've ever experienced.

My only beef with CUL spec is still that you have to buy materials with blue scrips...at least give us high quality versions. :/ It's weird that making HQ food is harder than making HQ gear.

Well the markets there and here are pretty different. Even so, still think its too easy to fall back to the 2nd best foods versus the newest recipes if that makes sense, stat differences are pretty minimal, older stuff doesn't need specialist, and new stuff pretty difficult to mass produce. Kinda wish cul specialist had just a bit more to it, like more unique recipes or a x5 out of recipes instead of x3, or maybe a bonus time length to our food, stuff like that.

This has pretty much always been true for CUL and ALC. I personally made gads of money since 3.2 making Cockatrice Meatballs and Baked Pipira Pira because I could sell them for 10-15K each versus the specialist recipe which were selling for 45-55K each.
SE fixed ALC by putting their specialist items in the all the other DoH recipies but CUL has been left to stoke the fires all alone in the cold snows of Ishgard.

Anyone that had a system to mass produce 3 star food can mass produce 4 star food. 4 star food and 3 star food are approaching the same price on my server because the 4 star isn't any more difficult. It's litteraly just a slightly altered macro. Obviously I understand this will all be a server by server case though.

Does no one raid on Mateus?

Because tbh Priestly Omelette's are the best food they've made in a long time for 90% of the battle jobs in the game. Only way they could be better is if they replaced the accuracy with determination, maybe. If that doesn't sell it's not that there is a problem with CUL, but more with your server.

Regardless though yeah, CUL does seem a bit unloved, but more because of what I said earlier with how it requires blue scrip materials. I really don't see the point of that at all...it makes the synths that you are going to obviously mass produce the hardest to do, why?

I think you'll have to adapt for the market on your server, Mateus is know for being a really casual server and one of the servers with the lowest population. So it's normal that high lvl foods don't sell that much there.

They could improve culinary arts by buffing food so that they give permanent but very small buffs/cosmetic effects to players and/or squadrons. For example, desserts can be used to fatten players/squadrons, x healthy food raises y stat by z amount permanently but capped at 0.5-3 stat points, special foods for rerolling squadron chemistry, etc.

Or just make some specialist food ingredients essential for crafting gear/cosmetics, the same way they do it for every other crafting class. Who cares if it doesn't make story sense.

Even if you are in love with Priestly Omelettes or Heavensegg Soups for whatever reason, that still doesn't justify sacrificing a specialization for it. The only way Cul specialization will ever be any good is if they make more interesting food, like they tried out towards the end of ARR. Food that gives desynthesis buffs like Bacon Broth, food that maybe increases melding rates, food that maybe has some other odd effect like increased GP regen or higher chance of catching big fish or gives you the effects of the FC buffs, like they are doing with Squadron scrolls. There's lots of things besides flat, tiny stat boosts they could use food for and any of these would justify having Cul as a spec.
